Just got an email from the Emerson Colonial that the production of Magic Mike is cancelled.
Direct from the email:
Dear Guest:
We must regretfully inform you that the producers of MAGIC MIKE THE MUSICAL have made the difficult decision to cancel the Boston engagement of the show. They have informed the Emerson Colonial Theatre that they do not feel the show is ready for production.
We are sorry for the inconvenience that this cancellation causes you. The Colonial remains dedicated to bringing first-class entertainment to Boston, and we look forward to welcoming you to the historic venue at a future date.

Well we saw this coming. Wonder if it's being pushed back or scrapped completely
I'm still wondering if Faye Dunaway is going to make it to the stage in Boston this summer.

Magic Mike can't survive a vanishing act.
Maybe Lone Star Love can take the slot at the Colonial!
I too, hope something plays the colonial this fall. I just don’t see this musical coming together, got almost everything going against it right now.

And Nerds!
It should stay in Vegas for Bachelorette parties, it will do just fine there for a long time. They are also opening another one in Berlin. No place in a real theater.

Theyre very different projects, LuPita. Vegas and London are male strip shows using the Magic Mike branding. No signing, no script. Just dancing. This was to be a book musical about male strippers. Worse ideas have made great shows. I just wonder what happened to make the writing team all quit after so many years on the project.
And my kingdom for Rebecca to finally make it to Broadway! I just want to see the staircase burn!
I am very aware they are different projects, Sauja. Yet, this was completely scrapped as was Rebecca. Guess there weren't any "worse ideas".
BettyBoy72, ticket sales for "Tea at Five" with Faye are going very well, as the Boston run was recently extended.

HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA
The best part is that, that season would either be the biggest bomb of a season or the most successful season in Broadway history!

I keep holding onto hope that Rebecca will resurface one day! ![]()
This seems like something for Vegas or San Francisco. Seems it could have a lucrative run in either place.

im sold after that one video

What video, por favor? The Magic Mike which played Vegas was just a Chippendales style male strip show. Is that the video you're referring to?
...and if it's the London iteration...well, I give them a P for "personality", but that's about all. Where is Jerry Mitchell when you need him? Oh yes, he already did a great strip show in Vegas some years back. Peepshow at Planet Hollywood resort was fun and sexy.

If the show is on hold, why is it performing in London???

Magic Mike Live and Magic Mike the musical are two completely different ventures. Magic Mike Live is a strip show not a musical.

Hereafter, they can be referred to as Magic Mike Live and Magic Mike Dead. ![]()
