Sad day. Hopefully this cast changes by next year.

What did you not like about her?
I personally like her take, it's much closer to Maureen McGovern's than it was Buckley's. And, while Buckley was devestatingly amazing, both interpretations are valid.
I really hope they go back to what they did in the workshop in 1984 and have "Open Your Hearts" be started by a children's chorus on the radio while Margaret sews (Which in the book is how she makes money to support herself and Carrie) with Margaret picking it up and singing along.
Mazzie rocks. Haters fall back.

That's how it was done in the current reading (except the chorus wasn't children).
I don't see how Mazzie's performance of the show in a reading on a Sunday at noon with minimal rehearsal is the end-all be-all indication of how she'd play it in an actual production. And I'm not even a FAN of Mazzie.
Technically Margaret works as a laundress in the book...
I'm not opposed to the cast for another reading, but I wasn't overwhelmed by either Ranson or Mazzie in their roles. Ranson's voice didn't seem versatile enough to play off an innocent girl and yet have the ability to really belt it out. Mazzie just doesn't make it impressive. There's no raw energy or hard belt in it, it's just very well sung. I don't know, I'm not all that impressed with the choices. Hopefully we can hear more from this one.

This thread demonstrates why a Carrie revival is doomed from the start.
Whilst i didnt love her on the last workshop reading i thought she was OK and to be fair had hardly any time to rehearse and it was just a reading. The one i did not like was Molly, but again, its hard to tell.
I like that Ashford, Taylor, Tveit are involved in the reading though
I'm confused. When was there a CARRIE reading that was open to the public?

Why is this exactly why a revival of Carrie wont work?
Take any show that was a success and go back and cast it with the wrong people. I doubt those shows would have "worked" either.
If the rewrites do the material justice and the cast is fine, I'm sure the revival has just as much of a chance as anything. But Marin and Molly in that reading last year were less than impressive. And there are PLENTY of competent women in New York more right for those roles.

Haha, most of these charming posters are basing their opinions on a bootleg audio!
Yes we are, i didnt realize that listening to an audio of a reading that was not visual (just actors in front of music stands) could make us all get such the wrong impression about those involved in it.

Ljay,
I love that book. I'm glad you enjoy it as well.
With love.

Sheesh!
It hurts to be strong on the Main Board.
Well, I think it sounds like they pulled together some of the people involved in the last reading to do a table read of some of the changes. That doesn't necessarily mean these people will be in the actual production. I think its pretty unlikely Tveit, for one, will be doing the full staging of this.

Did they replace the word Can with a question mark?
Actually, the full title is now Catch Me If You Interrogation Point, Interrogation Point.
