Just walked past the theatre (on the way to night music signing) and saw them putting up a marquee on w46 at the west side of the hotel so that the marquee is parallel with the richard rodgers. I would post a pic but I am on my iPhone.

The Marquis Theatre, home of the hit musical "Come Fly Away"? Such a hit that you can hear Frank Sinatra songs 24/7 at "The Addams Family"'s theatre? :P

Posted: 4/6/10 at 12:14pmI first saw the marquee on Friday. I was a little taken aback, because I was surprised to see it, but I'm glad they put up a marquee where the new box office is. It was needed.

The night shot is a bit overexposed, but these give an idea of what the marquee looks like...

Posted: 4/6/10 at 6:53pmNice, that theatre always needed a re-do outside, like what Lion king did with the Minskoff next door. However, what is the point having the big MARQUIS THEATRE letters facing that direction, you can only really read it well if your'e standing on the other side of the street. They should do one of those vertical signs aswell.

Posted: 4/6/10 at 8:31pmI think it's fine b/c it makes the whole street look more "theatre-ish." Which it is, but since the Marquis was built, you'd never know that. Very impressed.

Posted: 4/6/10 at 11:33pmJust wait until you see the breezeway between 45th and 46th its like before advertisements(Drowsy/Disney) but it exploded on the building as well. The Broadway box office is now vacant

Where is the new Box office? Not on Broadway any more?
There used to be a mural of a ton of old broadway shows in the Marquis breezeway. Hello Dolly, Wss, Barnum, Cabaret etc.. Is this back up? PLEASE say yes!!! ;o)

Posted: 4/8/10 at 8:24pmNow that I have seen it yesterday afternoon, it dosn't look quite finished. As for the location, near the old temporary tkts booth, will that be the main entrance way into the theatre? In the times I have been there for shows I was never sure which way to enter, and I came in several different ways.

"Where is the new Box office? Not on Broadway any more?"
I did see people going in and out of a door in the breezeway between 45th and 46th (not the hotel's revolving doors, another one). It might've said Box Office or something similar letting people know that's where you get tickets to Come Fly Away, but I can't remember exactly. I didn't know they changed it in the first place, but perhaps that's where it is now.

Posted: 4/9/10 at 1:20amWhat's weird is that Ticketmaster now shows a new address for the theatre, but it's 211 West 45th Street. Which is the other side of the hotel (and this marquee). Don't get it.
