Matilda freak out

Little quick story. So every week when Broadway.com announces the grosses they do something funny like "the green money soars as the green girl soars." So this week they used Matilda, but I didn't see the entire title and only saw a picture with the current girls who rotate the title role. I literally had a 10 minute breakdown, because I thought it was an announcement for a Matilda closure. Then I moved the page up and saw the title of the post and then I regained my happiness. This got me wondering could Matilda last longer than billy Elliot did and get to its 5th anniversary? I love this show so much and I only want it to keep on succeeding in anyway possible. I really hope this isn't it's last year. I know it hasn't been doing well in the slow weeks, but it seems to do well enough in the the tourist seasons to help it last through the year. I heard it has an 800,000 operating cost, but is that still the cost since they've already recouped?

Part of me believes that it will survive, but part of me doesn't... I noticed that the show goes through trends where it has amazing weeks, and then it crashes and does poorly. Maybe it's better off being a seasonal show? Over the holidays, it does amazing. We can only hope it will make it to it's 5th year... maybe even past that? I would be devastated if this show closed.

You literally had a 10 minute breakdown? I mean, I love Matilda a lot, but wow, I hope you don't mean that LITERALLY.

It is never good to get THAT attached to something.

What is Matilda's nut? Has it reached $900,000?

JBroadway, don't you know literally means figuratively?
about matildas nut, I remember reading in order for Matilda to recoup faster they put in their recoupment into their weekly budget which increased their operating costs. I'm just assuming now since they don't need to recoup anything more if that is still apart of their budget or is their total budget lower.

And I came in here thinking it was going to be a story about a Matilda having a freak out on stage for some reason, like a new girl going on for the first time. lol

I also want this show to succeed in every possible way it can! I just saw the tour (exactly) two weeks ago in Chicago, and I fell in love with it. I would be truly disappointed if it closed so soon. This tour was (apparently) very troubled, and yet I had an incredible time! I can only imagine how grand it is on Broadway. It's a beautiful show in every aspect (IMO). It deserves a long, heathy run (again, IMO). I completely see why it's the record holder for most Laurence Oliver Awards for a musical.

May I ask what made the tour so troubled? I saw the tour in Philly back in November and it was wonderful from top to bottom and reminded me of why I loved the show in the first place.

That's exactly what I thought. Or maybe some kid in the audience freaked out when confronted with Miss Trunchbull (which I have seen to some degree). The actual post was not at all what I expected...LOL
