She could be ill or it could be a pre-arranged day off. According to Telecharge.com, CE is only out tonight - Tuesday, July 10th.

Posted: 7/10/07 at 5:43pmI don't believe this is pre-arranged seeing as when I spoke to Maureen on Sunday she told me she'd most likely not be on for the remainder of the run and was happy to have her final performance the night before the TONYs.

Posted: 7/10/07 at 6:04pmCould be anyone of a number of reasons as to why CE is out tonight? Not really important. The main thing is that MM gets to shine again playing the role of a lifetime!

Posted: 7/10/07 at 6:13pmYou've seen it how many times with Christine??? Shame you couldn't have gotten past your love for her and seen it with a different actress. Seems to me you don't love the show as much as you love Christine.

It's not that, it's just that it's too...perfect. I'm not one to usually go for a particular individual. Didn't care when Idina wasn't in Wicked, or Kristin for that matter. I love the show. I almost did go tonight to see Maureen in it. However, I came to my own conclusions for whatever reasons I did. It's seeing from an artistic standpoint the marriage of actor and role, and yes, incredible writing. (I love the music. I actually listened to it a little before I saw the show.)
I also love the story itself and am captivated by it. That said, I swear if she's out tomorrow night, I'll go see Maureen Moore.

Posted: 7/10/07 at 6:21pmShame Maureen didn't go on more to alleviate Ebersole's burden after all the press and work she did around Tony time. It would probably have paid off and she wouldn't be phoning everything in.

Posted: 7/10/07 at 6:23pmI understand your point of view, but after what I'm guessing is at least over 10 viewings, I'd be interested in seeing another take on the part.

Posted: 7/10/07 at 6:27pmC...Company, just because Christine was tired and sick doesn't mean she was phoning it in. She did the best that she could under the circumstances. Just because she wasn't at the top of her game doesn't mean she wasn't trying.

I don't know. I just hate to be disappointed. But, I do swear that if Christine Ebersole is out tomorrow I'll give Maureen a shot (maybe it's a sign from whoever's out there to see her in it). BTW-I've seen Maureen Moore in other shows and not been as impressed as others have. Just doesn't do it for me.

bjh, I was referring to a period well before Tony time. I and a few other friends that I recommended the show to came out fairly disappointed from her lackluster performance. True the woman certainly can act the hell out of the role, but when she isn't clicking, the show can drag a bit.
As for post-Tonys, I can't make a comment because I haven't seen it since before.

I saw Maureen once. She actually had me rolling in her take on The House We Live In! She danced with such joyous abandon much more like the way Little Edie danced in the documentary.
As for her take on the role in general, she made Little Edie seem, to me at least, even more fragile then Christine does. Her Little Edie accent bordered on English during parts of the show.
I was totally thrilled to get a chance to see her! It proved to me that the show, although a vehicle for Christine's talent, can be pulled off by other actresses with much success.

Posted: 7/10/07 at 7:56pmI was also talking pre-Tonys. I haven't seen the show since April or May, but she was doing a lot of appearances already by that time.

Maureen is so super talented--way back when I heard she was standing by I thought "BRILLIANT"----Words on a message board, no matter how superlative, cant begin to explain how awesome she it. Years ago she did the american premiere of Bloodbrothers in Connecticut...one of the most moving performances I have ever seen in my life...and also got the thrill to see her first performance of Rose in GYPSY. Now I really really know what this character is about. Thank you Maureen!!!
I wish I coud see you in GG!!
