What you all think? What will be a hit? What will flop? What will be a Tony favorite?
I think The Addams Family will be a big hit. Finnian's Rainbow will flop. A Little Night Music will survive on it's cast. Fela! will be this year's Next to Normal, slowly climb up and survive on reviews and word of mouth. Catch Me If You Can will come to Broadway.
I have no idea what will happen with Spiderman.
I hope Addams Family is a hit, but unfortunately I wanted Pirate Queen, Young Frankenstein and 9 to 5 to be hits and look how that turned out!
Hits:
Addams Family
Night Music
Flops:
Memphis
Spider Man
Finian's Rainbow
Ragtime (sadly i think this will flop, but will get rave reviews)
Fela! (this year's Passing Strange)
Pure Country
Million Dollar Quartet
Non Profit:
Bye Bye Birdie

I also agree that Ragtime will get great reviews but not do well financially... though I think it will sell well at first, then peter out after awhile.
^ I actually agree with all of that. Though it's non-profit, I think Bye Bye Birdie will be a success, and possibly may get an open ended run.

Completely agree.
I think Bye Bye Birdie will end up extending it's run. Nothing else is booked in the theater and that is probably why. I still can't tell what will happen with Memphis. I think it might do fairly well, I think it could bring a newISH audience.
Also currently The Addams Family is going to survive on it's cast. Nathan Lane and Bebe will sell tickets.
Actually, Addam's cast could very well be its doom. I heard rumors of Lane and Neuwirth's salaries being quite high, and I doubt that others like Mann, Hoffman, Chamberlin, etc. are working for exactly minimum.
It better be AMAZING and not a Young Frankenstein rip-off, or it could flop miserably. The premise of the story doesn't sound exactly thrilling, funny or witty to me, but we'll see. Dark humor can be quite tricky to handle.

Just my two cents, but I feel Ragtime could really be a hit, similar to Chicago in the 90s. A masterpiece with a simplified production, great cast, and a brilliant director, it'll be a great critical smash, and could run for a few years (or more).
Right now, Addams Family could easily become the Producers or young Frankenstein of the season. It entirely depends on the material something which has yet to be seen. Still, i'm very excited for this, as having Bebe, Nathan, and Jackie is just too much to pass down.
I hope "Race" does well, in spite of the odds against that happening.
I can't imagine A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC not being a hit if Catherine Zeta-Jones is indeed cast as Desiree.
HAMLET and A STEADY RAIN are surefire hits already.

There's a new play - not produced by Roundabout - that is interested in Henry Miller's Theatre if Birdie is not a hit.
I think MEMPHIS is going to surprise a lot of people, especially considering most know nothing about it.
If it can build an audience, it could end up fairing quite well. It has performed phenomenally in all of its out of town engagements.

But isn't that a Roundabout Theater? Why would Roundabout give their new theater up?

A friend of a friend in the BIRDIE cast was warned of a 3-week extension, but nothing more as Stamos is busy.
If Roundabout doesn't have another production planned for the spring for the Henry Miller's, they could at least make some dough by renting the space out until the fall, assuming that Birdie isn't a hit.
Henry Miller's Theatre will be made available to commercial productions when Roundabout doesn't have a show playing an extended run in there.

If Birdie is a hit, they will most likley extend, even if Stamos has to leave. There are many capable name actors who could play the role.
Like Orfeh. She could play any role.
I was in a producing class this summer and my teacher showed us the packet that the producers of Memphis sent around to people to get money. I did not gain any interest after looking at that information. We listened to the demo and I found it to be repetitive and the script to be unbalanced. The only draw to it for me was the cast, but no one outside of the theater world is going to care/know who Chad Kimball is.
A Little Night Music and Addams Family will be fine. I'm pulling for Ragtime, but also being realistic. I'm worried that Brantley is just going to **** on it again.
Someone on Twitter asked John Stamos...
@JohnStamos Would you ever consider doing another tv show? Or are you sticking to theater/film for now?
and he responded with
@flynpixy theater for a year
So it looks like he's free to do BBB for a year.

I'm going to be the minority here and say The Addams Family is going to flop. I think it'll be another 9 to 5 case. The show will be decent, not good enough to drive a ny crowd and the name won't attract nearly as many tourists as expected. although who knows, the star power of nathan lane could take them a long way.
Don't forget about Superior Donuts!
And if Stamos has to leave Birdie early I am sure Matthew Broderick is available as a replacement.
I don't know what will happen with Superior Donuts. I'm sure August: OC will help it sell tickets but not that much. I don't think it will make it throuhg the fall months very easilby.
