I recently saw both Gypsy and Maybe Happy Ending (and I loved them) and I'm wondering if anyone knows if there will be cast albums?
I found a "sampling" of songs on Soundcloud for Maybe Happy Ending, but, I'm hoping a recording of all the songs is released?

Maybe Happy Ending recorded their cast album last month for a spring release. They just released a teaser of "Hitting the Road" this week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kA13pEHiwzQ
I imagine Gypsy will announce a cast album soon as well.

Yes - Maybe Happy Ending has a real cast recording out soon.
I don't believe anything has been announced for Gypsy yet. But I'm desperate - I have been 'listening' to Audra's vocals and they are even better than I ever remembered. But <ALW reference>it's not a matter of if it's a matter of when [Hydrogen]</ALW reference>.
The Bernadette Peters Gypsy recording wasn't made until AFTER the Tonys!

MHE announced a cast album back in December. Not sure about Gypsy.

I recall seeing a photo of Joy Woods in a recording studio recently, so it’s possible they recorded the GYPSY cast album already.

What's the standard for recording cast albums, these days? It used to be a show was recorded the first day off after the opening week. Now it seems like there aren't deals in place prior to opening, and it's hit or miss which shows get recorded. Is this more the case for reivials than new shows? Or is there just not a consistent approach anymore in terms of when or if to make a cast recording?

While I think Audra should have her songs recorded (like the Laura Benanti/My Fair Lady EP) do we really need a complete cast recording for this production? I just think it’s such a high cost with not a guaranteed ROI, especially for an arguably divisive production of a more-than-well documented musical.
I am big. It’s the REVIVALS that got small.

Is there a reason Maybe Happy Ending is waiting until spring to release their album? It’s kind of frustrating since we know it doesn’t actually take months to mix and master a cast album. Others have been recorded and released in weeks not months.
