Micky will start rehersals for the London production of Hairspray , January of 2010. He will play the father Wilbur. He said he was offered the part of the mother but couldnt see himself in the fat suit. Good thing I can't either.
Micky anounced by phone this today on the radio for Hillsdale, Michigan were he is going to be playing his next concert.
Never occured to me to think of Micky in Hairspray!

It never occurred to me to care. Shill.

It's called acting. You broaden your horizons and try new parts. But hey...if Jerry Mathers can play Wilbur I don't see why Micky can't. Though it would have been interesting to see him take a role that hasn't already been played by a former child star.
Thanks for the news, but do you ever post anything NOT about Micky Dolenz???

Eris- I think Micky is more than just a child star. He is a pretty versital entertainer. There really isnt much he hasnt done in the entertainment field except maybe dance. It will be quiet intresting to see how the reviews go to this production. I followed them for Aida and Pippin. Makes you wonder if Micky would be asked to do the role on Broadway, like Davy was with Dodger after doing that on the London stage.

I bet he will be asked to do it! Then when he gets there for his first show he will realize that Hairspray has been closed for a year.

Oops, oh well it was just a thought. I'm sure Micky knows its not running at the moment. He lives in New York part of the time.

Yeah, I don't give a crap what Micky is up to these. He hasn't been a celebrity since the 60's.
Let. him. go.
He is a former child star. It's a fact. He was the star of a television show when he was a child. Thus making him a former child star.

I think it's fantastic there's somebody who makes posts about Micky Dolenz. Don't let the naysayers squelch you, horselighting. There are many great Monkees songs sung by Micky, my favorite being "Daily Nightly" from the Pisces, Aquarius, Jones, Ltd. album.
He'll do a fine Timeless to Me, I'm sure.
I had this image that Horselighting was actually Mickey himself and i started to crack up thinking of him starting a post to self-congratulate himself only to quickly feel forced to get on the defensive about his talents as an artist. Dear Horselighting, oh how do I hope and prey you are Mickey himself. That would rule.

Um, there's no "e" in "Micky" for one thing.

No i'm not Micky and i'm not related to him. Its very rear that Micky is thought of as a former childstar. More comenly know as the legendary Monkee. Micky is actually just an accomplished person. I thought it was interesting to here that he will be working back in England again after so many years. Micky puts his own touch to the roles he gets. I 'm sure he will make an excellent Wilbur in Hairspray. Just because he joked about not invisioning himself as the mom dosent mean he so bad either. He is happy with the role he got so all the more power to him.
Boy, you guys can be harsh. I for one am interested to hear about what Micky Dolenz is doing. I would rather read that than any of the mostly pointless postings about who is playing Elphaba or Glinda in any number of road companies of WICKED.
Finding Namo, I too have the Pisces, Aquarius and Jones Ltd album.

Why do the Monkees have obsessed fans? You don't see people freakishly following the members of Edison Lighthouse or Strawberry Alarm Clock.

People are wasting an offal lot of energy posting I dont care on this thread. Why not use that energy and post to a thread you do care about? It is nice to know there are some here that do care about Micky or Davy in theatre. I talked about both here.

You weren't even in the ball park with that one, Micky.

Do I cram Nolan (figuratively) down everyone's throat? Do I really post about him much anywhere?

Seriously, who cares? I used to skip all the Idina and Kristin threads. I skip all the "how are my seats?" threads. If the poster is kind enough to put the subject in the thread title, you are to blame for clicking on it and opening your throat up wide for the act of "cramming" Micky Dolenz down there. Stop behaving consensually and then claiming you were forced.
