Oh, some of these comments have aged like milk. No acting noms, no wins...I'm surprised it got nommed as it did - but to be fair, I really disliked the show and didn't watch many episodes - which was a disappointment since I really adore the cast.
I guess audiences really dropped off after the initial few episodes?

Practically everyone I know is currently watching or has binged it. And it will only get better over time. I’d give the first season a solid B+."
There is a 0% chance Bomer will win an Emmy for this."
Wanna bet?"
Did it come true or...........?

You are truly insufferable. They were wrong. Who cares? The need you have to belittle everyone who doesn't feel the same as you is deeply pathetic and something you should talk about with your therapist."
Thank you.

It was such trash and I love that people actually thought this or Matt Bomer would ever win a thing. Lolz.
I wonder if the show would’ve worked better as a single-camera sitcom. I can never sit through multi-cams, they’re just so cringey to me.

There she is, America’s Sweetheart back to being her condescending best. It’s okay for you not to like something but speaking down to people like you are queen of the castle remains as vile as ever. And by the way, Queeny Poo, it happens to be 88% positive on Rotten Tomatoes.

I still watch old multi cams all the time. It's the new ones that are so cringe. It's like Hollywood just can't make them anymore.
I think many of us really wanted this to be good but it just wasn’t. Lavin was a consistent bright spot, but her tragic death clearly sent them scrambling with no good path forward. But the series just felt so inauthentic and forced.
So, it was a one-and-done: MID-CENTURY MODERN has been cancelled after only 1 Season.

Agreed.
Although I've always enjoyed his comedy in guest/recurring roles, Nathan Lane has not had much success starring in TV sitcoms (i.e., One of the Boys, Encore! Encore!, Charlie Lawrence).
I think (re: comedy) what plays well in a theater might be "too big" for TV, unless presented in smaller doses. I really enjoy his dramatic work though. Loved his characters in The Good Wife and Elsbeth.
That's not to imply that he's responsible for the show's cancellation. Mid-Century Modern had too many imitated references to previous successful shows and (IMO) only Lavin was able to raise her character above that flaw.
I enjoyed the show and was eagerly awaiting their season 2 renewal. How sad.
