Ha, the first one's hilarious. It actually makes sense, too! Low on ice...

The first time I heard "I Know It's Today", when Fiona says "And I'm a vandal now as well" I thought she said "And I'm manhandler as well".
Also, in "Memory" when she sings "Every streetlamp seems to beat a fatalistic warning" I thought she said "Every streetlamp seems to be a fatal agnostic warning".
And the first time when I heard "Money Money" by David Bowie when I was younger, when they said "money money" I swore they were saying something along the lines of "Petrotonic", which I thought was an actual word...
I was listening to the radio today and "Blinded by the Light" came on.
Here is the actual words:
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce
And this is what I thought I heard:
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a douche

In "Broadway Baby" from Follies, I always thought Ethel Shutta was saying "working for an iceman like a Ziegfield or a Weismann". It made total sense to me, I just figured Ziegfield was notoriously cold toward his employees or something. I didn't realize it was "nice man" until I heard Elaine Stritch sing it.

In Shrek during the song "Who'd I Be" I thought Shrek said "I'd KICK the girl, I'd take a breath, and I'd remove my helmet" instead of "I'd get the girl, I'd take a breath, and I'd remove my helmet"

So apparently "Christmas Bells" from Rent does not go "Got any semen?"
O_o
During the Rockjy Horror PICTURE show soundtrack during The Time Warp I always hear "he had a big ass truck" instead of "he had a pick up truck"
In "Just Another Day" from Next to Normal, when the whole family is singing together, it sounds like Dan says "It only hurts when I drive."
Real lyrics- " It only hurts when I try."
"If I Didn't Believe in You"-The Last Five Years- When Jamie sings " No one can give you courage. No one can think in your skin."
Real lyrics-"No one can give you courage. No one can thicken your skin."

Really? That's what I thought it was too lol. What are the actual lyrics?

What I heard 'Me and my Booty'
Real lyrics 'Me and my Beauty'
From 'The Dark I Know Well' (Spring Awakening)
The first time I listened to 'Just Another Day' it sounds like Aaron is singing "When the world will feel my power and or reign" but the line is actually "When the world will feel my power and obey". I don't know, maybe i just heard it funny.

Hi! For Christmas Bells the line goes...
"Got any "c", man?"
As in, got any coke, man? They are asking the drug dealer what drugs he got
Could that line from Christmas Bells be an intentional play on words?

Up until quite recently, when I think I happened to read a lyric, I would have sworn blind that in the sewers scene in Les Mis, Valjean sung
It's you Javert, I knew you wouldn't wait too long
The faithful servant at his post once more
was
The faithful servant in this postman's war
Was always annoyed that I didn't understand the reference!

Idina Menzel does NOT sing clearly. I always thought "I'll want nothing else 'till I die" was "I'll walk up the aisles 'till I die".

americanboy99,
Hi! I get what your saying, but I don't think it would be play on words. That whole section they are asking the drug dealer.. do you have this drug? this drug? It wouldn't fit the scene. That's what I got out of it anyway! Correct me if I am worng, fellow RentHeads!

When I was like 6 years old, I thought Harold Hill was singing:
Seventy Six Strong Bones led the big parade
And I thought Fagin was singing:
So long, fare thee well, Pip pip cheerio - A Big Bassoon.
Considering the very next line in "Christmas Bells" is "Got any D, man?" I never had any problem understanding.
In "The Little Things You Do Together"
"shouting to your horse together?"
"Shouting 'til you're hoarse together"
I don't know if you were asking what the real line is, but there you go.
In "One Day More", on one of the cast albums (probably Broadway), Javert sings:
"One More Day Till Revolution
We will nip it in the bud.
I will get there little schoolboys.
They will WET THEMSELVES."
And I thought that was hilarious, and kind of out of character for Javert.
(In truth, Valjean sings over the next two words, "...with blood.")
From 'Gypsy' TV Movie staring Bette Midler:
"Everything's Coming Up Roses"
Correct Lyric: That lucky star I talk about is you!
Heard Lyric: That lucky star I talk about is June/Jew/mumbled word
I know what the lyric is (I even did when I bought the album) but everytime I listen to that song I hear something that's not 'you'.
BroadwayAbridged, when I hear that lyric on the Broadway cast album (with the lovely fellow in my avatar), I hear, "They will wet themselves... BLAAAA!"
In "Love Changes Everything" from Aspects of Love:
Real lyric: Love will turn your world around.
Misheard lyric: Love will turn your water on.
...whatever that means. I never questioned that lyric for the longest time.
I listened to the cast recording of Next to Normal MANY a time after purchase and I was always puzzled by Henry's line in "Hey # 1" when he's asking Natalie to the dance.
Real Lyric: It's March 1st and it's cheese
Misheard Lyric: It's March 1st and it's Jews
Listen for it. I swear it sounds exactly like he's saying "jews" and so for a while I thought maybe Henry talked about being Jewish and I was not paying attention and then I saw the show again.

hahaha now I hear that lyric in Hey #1, even though that's not really what it is...even though I though "and it's cheese" was wrong too.
