Yes, re-sale and "premium" seats are crazy expensive. 169 is (at least right now) likely the cheapest you'll find. MIGHT it get cheaper if the re-sellers are worried about making their money back? Maybe.

If you choose your dates wisely, ''Moulin Rouge!'' does sell $99 partial-view tickets in the orchestra, and $139 seats in the mezz.
Otherwise, good luck with the $29 digital lottery or $50 SRO.

It's selling well, there won't be a discount. Broadway is a want, not a need. Can't afford it? Try the lottery or save your money. That's life.

Try the ticket re-sellers right before the show. Both online and at the theatre. But beware because some of the ticket brokers in person sell fake tix. If you try the cancellation line right before the show, they sell house seats for $229 each.

??? i'm a 16 y/o international high school student who rarely travels to the US and when i do go to NYC, i make the effort to save up money so that i CAN afford a $150 last row mezz ticket. young theatre goers aren't the only people who struggle financially .... ????? if you wan't something that bad, work for it and save your $. it's not like you have to rush to see this show as it'll obviously be around long enough for you to save up at least $150. if $150 is an arm and a leg for you, maybe you shouldn't be seeing shows in the first place and putting that money somewhere else instead

I was a student too who lived in NYC so I understand where you come from.... but I actually never complained about it since I always thought of Broadway as a luxury, not a necessity.
On the bright side, the minimum wage in NYC is $15/hour so another way to think about it is perhaps getting a part-time job and work at least 10 hours to get to see Moulin Rouge!

I shockingly found my Mezz Center Row L seat at $139. I snagged it immediately. I hope you have the same luck as me
