Clue in story: "Let's hope Wolverine's been giving him song and dance lessons."
http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=19210
How is that the clue in story? It doesn't have to do with Hugh. I adore James Marsden. I think he's a beautiful, beautiful man, and a great actor, but he just seems a little young for the part, including the fact that people we were talking about were along the lines of Donny Osmond. I guess he won't look too young compared to Zach, Nikki, and Brittanty, but it's just younger than I'm used to.
I think he's a great actor, though, and will be wonderful.
I dunno, I feel like Corny is one of those rare parts that could work at almost any age over 21. We're used to seeing him as an older man, but I think that a 25 year old could probably run what's now equivalent to a radio disco. Plus James Marsden is amazing!

Not sure how I feel about the casting, but it just might work. Interestingly enough, when I attended Hairspray at the Neil Simon on May 21, he was at the show. I recognized him when he came out of the stage door.

I thought it would be a clue because James starred with Hugh in X-Men and they mentioned Wolverine.

This is funny because I ran into him a few months ago at Hairspray. He'd seen the show. And then I read an article about how he sings and plays the guitar and I wondered if he was eyeing Broadway
Ah, Fan2, I read it wrong. Sorry.
With how young everyone else is looking, James will be fine. And he's such a great actor.
Great choice!
(as long as he can sing it well enough, which I have no reason to doubt)
He certainly LOOKS like he could host a weekly bandstand-type show that would attract hordes of squealing hair-hoppers.

What is it a clue of, though? It already says that he was cast.
I think Fan2 was trying to drop us a hint about who had been cast in his initial post, before we clicked on the link.

Too young? He's 33. (Dick Clark, host of "American Bandstand", was 27 when he started hosting). He sings just fine or at least he did on "Ally McBeal". I think he is a good choice as long as they don't let him write his own songs, too (like they are doing for Queen Latifah according to the earlier post that was deleted for reasons unkown.
i think this is good casting. he certainly looks the part. hell i'd watch anything he hosted

Yes that's what I was trying to do - I guess it didn't come across like that! (oh, BTW - I'm a "her" not a "his" LOL)

"Queen Latifah writes music?"
According to a post that was here yesterday, The Insider claimed that she was going to write a song for the film and the producers were hoping she could write a top ten hit. For some reason, that post seems to have vanished so maybe it is not true?
Fan2---My apology!
Your gender wasn't showing.
maybe if there is a new Latifah song it will be for over the end credits. After they struggled so long to find Motormouth the right songs, I hope they stay in the mix. The writing in the "Making Of" book about her civil rights song in Act Two is so moving...and from what I have read about Latifah, she would want to honor that.

Yay! This is the best news I have heard all day! James Marsden is a terrific actor. Like someone said earlier- He is BEAUTIFUL! :) I can see him as Corny. But I may be a little biased.
what a dreaaaaamy Corny.
I have to say that your positive attitude on most everything regarding this movie is refreshing, mateo.

Very, very interesting! I'm actually really, really excited for him! He rarely gets enough screen time in the films he's in. Ah, I'm extremely excited now! I never like casting for the movie, but in this case, I'm feeling it.
This cracks me up though:
He’ll play Corny Collins, the host and dreamboat star of the dance TV show that our heroine, Tracy Turnblad, dreams of appearing on.
Really? I didn't think Corny was meant to be a heartthrob.
That's Link's role.

I can't complain about this one.
Corny can be played sooo many ways (thats what I like about the character) ... he can be a dreamy suave 50s throwback, a cheesy 'corny' television personality, a straight up drunk... anything really...

Didn't know he could sing. Seems like this movie is shaping up to have an "all-star" cast.
