If you appreciate ballet, or innovative choreography, you should definatly go.

re: Movin' Out Worth Seeing?

If you like Billy Joel's music AND contemporary Twyla Tharp choreograpy... then it'll be worth it.

Its a 101% dance show, so you've been warned. The 'above the stage' orchestra/band is incredible.

As for me -- I can no longer tolerate Billy Joel's music after seeing this show when it was on Broadway a few years ago.

'Nuff said.

re: Movin' Out Worth Seeing?

For me, it was a real chore to understand what was going on in the plot, due to a combination of:

1) Not reading the synopsis in the playbill.
2) Most of Billy Joel's lyrics being drowned out by the orchestra
3) Not being a dance connoisseur

Of course, it could just be me.

re: Movin' Out Worth Seeing?

Such opposite opinions. I had no desire to see this show when it was on Broadway, but curiosity got the best of me when the tour was in DC. I loved it; so much so, I went back the next day to see it again. The dancers I saw (Rasta Thomas being one of them), were amazing.

re: Movin' Out Worth Seeing?

I had reservations before I saw this show. I was pleasantly surprised when I actually enjoyed it. I wasn't familiar with Twyla Tharp's choreography, but I became a fan after the show. Billy Joel's music is a story within inself, so the combination of the two elements (dance, vocals) made for an entertaining evening. Not the best show I've ever seen, but I liked it more than I thought I would. You might surprise yourself too!!!

re: Movin' Out Worth Seeing?

I thought about going to College Station myself and seeing the show but 1) I don't have a free ticket/ enough money for a ticket 2) the theatre is about 2.5 hours away for me 3) it's during the week and I have work the very next day so I just don't think it would work. But I really would like to see this show.

re: Movin' Out Worth Seeing?

As Pippin said, if you like Billy's music and unique choreography,,, it's a winner. Besides, the actor who usually sings & plays Billy's music is probably almost as good as Billy in his good days!

I covered it a few years ago...I can't imagine it not being in just as good shape today. There's a lot of talent out there.

Enjoy!
