Posted: 9/2/09 at 9:58pmSo NYMF tickets went on sale yesterday and I'm having a really hard time picking what I should see. What are you guys looking forward to and getting tickets to? I know NYMF can be hit and miss but I'm trying to avoid the duds as I don't exactly have unlimited funds lol. Looks like a lot of stuff has really good casts. What have people heard about different shows?

The one i bought tix for first was "The Last Smoker in America."
Also "Fat Camp" has a lot of good buzz around it.....
No one can REALLY tell what the duds are, some of them haven't even started rehearsal yet..... but most things look promising!

Cool, yeah "The Last Smoker in America" sounds interesting, Alice Ripley is in it right, how is that working? I haven't heard much about "Fat Camp." thoughts anyone else?

JUDAS & ME has one of the most impressive casts I've seen assembled for a NYMF show in quite some time.
Barbara Walsh, Leslie Kritzer, Ann Harada, and Jennifer Laura Thompson? Sign me up.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Posted: 9/2/09 at 11:37pmAlice Ripley will be a recorded voice throughout the show. So she's sort of in it.

Kate Rockwell's in F#@KING UP EVERYTHING.
I already have tix to JUDAS & ME (because of the cast) and FAT CAMP (because I loved PEREZ at Fringe last year), still deciding on the rest.

Posted: 9/3/09 at 10:27amA friend of mine was in a reading of Fat Camp a year or two ago and I got to see it. It was really great! Funny, touching, the music was catchy... I'm really looking forward to seeing the changes they've made. Should be a hit!

I'm only in New York until Oct 1, so I had limited choices. Went for Judas & Me and Max Understood. Just heard that the delightful Michael Winther is part of the Max Understood cast, so I'm all excited about that.
By the way, how's general admission for these NYMF shows? Do people line up to get a good seat or how does it work?

I got the Silver Membership so I'll be seeing (at least) 8, which are:
Judas & Me
Whatever, Man
Fat Camp
Fantasy Football
F*CKing Up Everything
ll Fall Down
Academy
Plagued
It works similar to Fringe where people line up inside/outside the theater, and once doors open they start shuffling people in. If you are a member, though, you can be the first to get in before the common folk.

I just bought tickets to Judas and Me, Last Smoker in America and Fat Camp. So happy to see JLT and Felicia Finley on a new york stage again! plus I loved both wedding singer and side show so really want to see what those writers have done this time!
Thinking about another 2 or 3 still undecided though. Have you guys heard anything about R.R.R.E.D. A Secret Musical, loved Katie Thompsons Birdland show a few months ago so curious to see how that is...

Posted: 9/4/09 at 1:08ami think we can expect katie thompson's RRRED to be fantastic, knowing what a stellar performer and writer she is.

Posted: 9/4/09 at 1:21amIs Anjou the only non-professional/student show?
#18re: NYMF 2009

Posted: 9/5/09 at 1:55pmI heard today that Patrick Jude had been cast in a show, but when I tried searching for which one I had no luck. Does anyone know if he has indeed been cast, and if so in which production? Thanks!

Posted: 9/9/09 at 10:06pmI have a couple shows on my radar but haven't ordered any tickets. I want to see Clear Blue Tuesday but the times don't work for me at all. That's one thing that drives me batty about the NYMF (or most festivals actually). The times are so batty! lol
