So NYMF tickets went on sale yesterday and I'm having a really hard time picking what I should see. What are you guys looking forward to and getting tickets to? I know NYMF can be hit and miss but I'm trying to avoid the duds as I don't exactly have unlimited funds lol. Looks like a lot of stuff has really good casts. What have people heard about different shows?
Cool, yeah "The Last Smoker in America" sounds interesting, Alice Ripley is in it right, how is that working? I haven't heard much about "Fat Camp." thoughts anyone else?
JUDAS & ME has one of the most impressive casts I've seen assembled for a NYMF show in quite some time.
Barbara Walsh, Leslie Kritzer, Ann Harada, and Jennifer Laura Thompson? Sign me up.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
i heard that kate rockwell is a show, but i am not sure which title... but i would love to see her in something! and def seeing "judas and me" and also "hurricane" and "academy"... i have heard that "fat camp" is hilarious as well.
Here's what I have tickets to see at NYMF 2009, in order:

A friend of mine was in a reading of Fat Camp a year or two ago and I got to see it. It was really great! Funny, touching, the music was catchy... I'm really looking forward to seeing the changes they've made. Should be a hit!
I LOVE NYMF so much! It's always a crap shoot with what shows will be good, but I usually have fun.
Right now I have tickets to: Judas & Me Under Fire Fantasy Football Fat Camp Whatever Man The Happy Embalmer All Fall Down Lighter The Gay Bride of Frankenstein Cross That River Academy Plagued F**king Up Everything Street Lights The Last Smoker in America
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco.
Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!
I'm only in New York until Oct 1, so I had limited choices. Went for Judas & Me and Max Understood. Just heard that the delightful Michael Winther is part of the Max Understood cast, so I'm all excited about that.
By the way, how's general admission for these NYMF shows? Do people line up to get a good seat or how does it work?
I got the Silver Membership so I'll be seeing (at least) 8, which are:
Judas & Me Whatever, Man Fat Camp Fantasy Football F*CKing Up Everything ll Fall Down Academy Plagued
It works similar to Fringe where people line up inside/outside the theater, and once doors open they start shuffling people in. If you are a member, though, you can be the first to get in before the common folk.
At least you're not alone - your friends are there too.
I just bought tickets to Judas and Me, Last Smoker in America and Fat Camp. So happy to see JLT and Felicia Finley on a new york stage again! plus I loved both wedding singer and side show so really want to see what those writers have done this time!
Thinking about another 2 or 3 still undecided though. Have you guys heard anything about R.R.R.E.D. A Secret Musical, loved Katie Thompsons Birdland show a few months ago so curious to see how that is...
I've bought for Judas and Me already, and think I'm going to buy for Fat Camp and Anjou, a Tale of Horror. Also waiting for some more casts to be released.
I heard today that Patrick Jude had been cast in a show, but when I tried searching for which one I had no luck. Does anyone know if he has indeed been cast, and if so in which production? Thanks!
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco.
Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!
I have a couple shows on my radar but haven't ordered any tickets. I want to see Clear Blue Tuesday but the times don't work for me at all. That's one thing that drives me batty about the NYMF (or most festivals actually). The times are so batty! lol
