Just looks like a cheap regional theatre knock-off of the original.
It doesn't look cheap to me. Nothing about CATS is sacred in my book, so let the designer have his/her way!
Well... I'm a CATS purist, specially when it comes to costumes, makeup, and coreography but I got to admit I like this makeup desing slightly better than the original, it just needs to be executed better.
It looks a bit more simple than the original, but I like it for the most part.

It looks a lot more cartoony and child-like, which was the original intent of the poems. If that is the direction of the entire production, then I'm all for it.
Why are you asking for opinions if you are just going to disagree with the first person who doesn't like it?
It looks like your make up person doesn't know what they are doing.

Very intriguing. The makeup looks quite good....hopefully the actress has a more mature sounding voice to fit this look (sometimes the Grizz's.....Grizzi..not sure the plural........have VERY young sounding voices which takes a bit away from the character, I think)
Thanks for posting. If you have any other pics of the cast, please post.
I am sure many of us would like to see.

The costumes & makeup have changed from nearly every single professional production. This isn't exactly groundbreaking territory here.

Ma-Anne is incredible. I am thrilled she is playing this role. I think the make up looks great.

I'm a CATS purist...
Have you considered counseling?
She kind of looks like a geisha, but I like it.
I thought there was going to be a dramatic difference from the way you were acting... Glad to see I was wrong LOL
Nice to see Ma-Anne... especially as Grizza

There's a woman in my building who looks exactly like that.
No, Namo, I haven't. Well, not for that anyway.
I'm not ashamed to say CATS is one of my favorite musicals, and I think its genius and iconic aesthetic should remain true to the original concept.
Anyone else think she looks like Carol Kane?
It looks good for the most part, but I am not liking Old Deuteronomy's costume at all.
I think the makeup looks fine if what you're after is less of a cat look, and more human.
I like Victoria's wig, but the Rum Tum Tugger and Macavity are a little underwhelming. In general, they all look a bit too clean for me.

It looks like the same as every other production of Cats...
I think there is certainly room to reinvent the makeup, set(s), costumes, etc.
This isn't really a reinvention, so much as a slight modification, to me.
To me it's more of a simplification than a reinvention. Except for Grizabella's.
It looks like a bus and truck rental version that hasn't been taken care of.
Tugger's costume looks to simple- his mane should be bigger and wilder, he looks like a groomed Housecat not a stray wild one
What a wonderful interview with Ma-Anne, BwayTo/Alan. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the link. I am less thrilled with the Grizz makeup than before. She kinda looks more like the Witch from Into the Woods. And Deut looks more Sasquachy or Monkey-y than Catish.
