It looks like its going to be fabulous! I'm just a little confused on why in this trailer they don't show any singing! In the first they showed a tad, but lots of people are going to go in thinking its just a scary movie. I mean i guess it really doesn't matter, but its just a little odd.

uncaged is right about RENT, that whole adaptation was just not good.
P.S Helen Bonham Carter is amazing!
Does the big throat slash look a little odd to anyone but me? I can't freeze it at the right spot so I can't be sure, but it looks kinda like pieces of red cloth rather than blood. I hope the blood isn't stylized a la Cell Block Tango.
edit to add pic freeze I was able to do...hmmm, hard to say

It would be really funny if the blood was all ribbons, the dead people thenwalk around singing with red handkerchiefs around their neck...
It's blood, not ribbons or anything stylized.
I'm having a hard time viewing it. Does anyone have it in another format?
Thanks!
You Tube has about 80 versions of it now. Just search for Sweeney Todd and organize the results by "recently added."
Actually it looks like CG blood...
And everyone's discussing the Post saying that the running time is 160 min. But, they also say it's opening 12/25 when the studio has been saying 12/21, so who knows...
The link isn't working anymore. Can someone direct me to this trailer?
Oops - found it. Never mind.

It's common practice to create several different trailers that focus on different elements to appeal to a diverse market. I recall TITANIC had many diffent 'angles' for its marketing campaign....some ads focused on the romance, other on the action/spectacle.
This ST trailer is clearly aimed at the suspense/horror crowd. While the throat slashing makes me a little oogy, it looks pretty awesome.
**SPOILER**
Maybe I didn't see it correctly, but it looks like there's a shot of Sweeney and Mrs. Lovett waltzing in front of the furnace door...I'm guessing that's the "So let's keep living it...really living it..." moment before he shoves her in??
The film screens tonight at 7:30PM. Expect reviews to come in.
After watching the two trailers a couple of times, I find myself wishing some of Johnny Depps line readings didn't remind me of Captain Jack Sparrow. Anyone else having the same thought?
Meh, whatever. Lots of actors play the same character over and over and one could hardly ask for a more engaging persona than that of Captain Jack.
I think the studios are playing it safe and smart. Get people intrigued first (which is working quite well). I'm sure closer to Christmas we'll see trailers with singing.
At any rate the new trailer is really cool.
Where are they screening it and why can't I go?! *cries*

Every trailer gets better. This is exactly how this show should be. on the screen.
This is not about the trailer per se, but does anyone know if the ghosts are still in the film? I thought I heard they were cut. I am a fan of Anthony Stewart Head and was really hoping he was still in it.
Actually, I'm glad Depp is using the accent. It serves the character well.
I never understood why Lovetts always have an accent, but Sweeneys dont...until Cerveris.
I know he's been in Australia for years, but his accent wouldnt become American!
Heck, Selma Hayak has been in this country for YEARS and I still cant understand her through her accent!
Of course it sounds like Jack Sparrow. In case you didn't understand the magic of the movies, Sweeney Todd and Jack Sparrow are played by the same person. Honestly, that's such a ridiculous complaint. Apply it to any other case and it sounds absolutely ludicrous. "Ew, Hannah Morgan sounds too much like Margo Channing! It RUINS it for me!!"
my favorite image is the huge meat grinder that lovett is turning and the large grinds of meat pouring out.
I am very much aware that it's the same person, the pirate trilogy are some of my all time favorite movie and Johnny Depp is one of my fav actors. :) Maybe I should have phrased my comment differently but it was intended to be more of a commentary on the fact that I had a hard time disassociating the two characters and was wondering if anyone else had the same problem
If you look at this, they sing the Ballad, and then it says Musical Thriller

As much as I wish these trailers featured a substantial amount of singing, the lack thereof is making me look forward to the film even more.
Lots of actors play the same character over and over and one could hardly ask for a more engaging persona than that of Captain Jack.
Depp is known for his versatility, though, which is what makes it disappointing.
Plus, that accent isn't Australian or Cockney or even Generic American Trying to be British, it's Jack Sparrow. There's no way it makes sense in this context.
I agree with LoringsGuy and mauriposa--either they're going to release another trailer for the musical theater audience with singing, or they're holding back to keep us in suspense about the vocals. Or both.
Ok, does anyone have a different trailer link? The one on the first page of this thread is coming up as Page Not Found.
