I feel like whoever this Carole King is will be the last one. Beautiful's been running for a really long time, and it's not doing that amazingly anymore. It's always on TDF and it regularly gets around 80% capacity. Unfortunate, though, considering it's a great show!

Maybe Melissa is coming back and Chilina is going to Waitress ? Maybe Waitress would finally do the female Dr. Pottamer thing people want and cast Jenn Colella (but I doubt she'd leave CFA for that )

Vanessa Carlton as of June 27. Chilina is there until then. She just got back from playing Carole in Toronto for a month so didn't leave per se.

I guess that would probably depend on what happens with Abby Mueller and SIX. Abby seems to do the end of the year while Chilina does the first half of the year. At least that's how it's been the last couple years.

Smells of desperation to keep the show open. Don't think it makes it into 2020.

Love Vanessa and am definitely interested in seeing the show again with her as Carole. I doubt she’s a big enough name to make a huge difference in how the show’s doing though.

Does it, though? I didn’t think she was that big of a name any more.

She will not make any difference at the box office. Especially if they're paying her more than the current Caroles. Nobody knows her name, and it's not like they can use her one hit song (from 2002) in advertising.

If Twitter and Insta followers are a decent but not-perfect indicator of star-power, Melissa Benoist has 3.4 million on Insta and 800K on Twitter, and she hardly sold a ticket. Carlton has about 45K each on Twitter and Insta.

I hope Carlton sounds better when she actually takes over the role than she does in the promo video. Weak, flat singing and sounds nothing like Carole King.
