In a show where the 2 characters only interact with each other for less than 10 minutes - do the actors need chemistry with each other? Or do they need chemistry with the songs?

Given how many videos, commercials, and performances they've already given, it's very clear they want the audience to feel their chemistry, expect there is none. If you've ever seen this on stage, especially with people like Betsy Wolfe and Adam Kantor, you'd understand how important chemistry is in this show.

Of course they are going to perform to the cameras when on TV.  They used mics on The Tonight Show - doubt they will in the theater.  It's a different medium.

I know a lot of people who didn't like it at the Minetta BECAUSE the characters didn't interact.

We'll see and hear what they come up at the Hudson!

 

I know a job is a job, but if I were Adrienne I would probably just have to walk out of this if that’s who they gave me for my leading man.
