Why would you say Nicole Richie is a "no-talent"? She has more musical talent than most people on this board. She is well trained in guitar, cello, violin, and piano. She trained eight hours a day for eight years to become an Olympic figure skater. I have seen her skate and it was beautiful. She is a good singer(heard her sing) , has outstanding comic timing and is a very clever girl. She is creative, but who wouldn't be if you had Grammy and Oscar winner Lionel Richie as a father and Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson as Godfathers. Yes, Nicole has made mistakes and has done a lot of dumb things rich hollywood kids do, but she has admitted she is an addict and that she was dumb in her youth bc she was not raised like a normal child. Lets see what happens.

I really do have to agree with NYC4LIFE.

As a fan of the Simple Life, I really do find that Nicole is the funnier of the two and I think it will bring a decent audience hoping to see a trainwreck. That's why people saw Scary Spice in RENT. Especially after they found out how garbage she was.

um, well I gotta hand it to NYC4Life. I looked up Ms. Richie's wiki page and had a listen of her demo on youtube and she does seem to be a well rounded and talented individual, and she can cary a tune very well, though she didn't belt in the demo.
It's just that all that stuff is never mentioned about her, after years of hearing about and seeing the bad behavior, drugs, unhealthy weight loss and such, it's hard to think of her as a talented performer. Though I've always agreed that she was the lesser of two morons on The Simple Life.

This is one of the only things that would entice me to go see Chicago as a New Yorker. Nicole Richie rocks.

I have always been a fan of Chicago, it's lot of fun. That being said: I have't seen for YEARS.

But please: Nicole Ritchie on B'way? Whether or not she CAN sing isn't really the issue, since that's not the only requirement for a b'way performer.

IF it happens, this is simply a ploy to pull in the money. Because I bet...if they even HALF tried, they'd be able to find at least a half dozen people that are trained actor/singer/dancers would audition in the first HOUR of the open call.

Yes, it's time has come. Enough stunt casting. Pull the plug while the show still has a LITTLE integrity.

Um, like yeah. Those same tourists are what fuel the New York economy and keep shows running (New Yorkers see a show once -- if THAT even), plus... they've kept THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA at 90-95% for 20 years (and still going strong).

If shows ran simply on the revenue generated by New York and US audiences -- they'd run less than a month on Broadway.

The article says, ... An insider tells Us Weekly magazine, "Nicole's definitely interested and is weighing it out."

Now Fox 5 News in NY just picked up the story.

AP as well mentions that she has been offered the role.

But no one is citing any source other than the US Weekly article.

This is seriously disgusting. I mean, what on God's beautiful green earth are these casting directors thinking these days?! Is it seriously THAT much about money, "Well maybe if we cast her then we'll sell more tickets!" Last I heard the bussiness aspect was doing great without throwing in dried-up, drug addicted Hollywood stars into the mix. It's seriously disturbing... trading raw talent and overall well being of the show for money. Just gross.

This is what the world is coming to though.
