Mel089, Julie isn't even my favorite Elphaba and plenty of other people thought that she was "slapped in the face" by not getting lead. Heck people(adamgreer and his "girl") would go to the theatre every weekend in hopes that she would go on for Nicole. That sounds a little bit stalkerish and insane now doesn't it?

Hey Julie Reiber is my offspring. I went to the toilet one day and strained like I do when I sing and looked in the toilet and there she was among my faeces.

I would also agree Dee Roscioli is bland. There's a video of her no good deed on youtube and it's probably the worst attempt at that number I've ever seen. It's pretty indescribable, she just oozes boredom and nonchalance. Her voice is pretty but equally boring.
I think Julia Murney was terrible in it too but I don't go and call her idiotic names.
You never saw Julia Murney play Elphaba, Val. You've noted many times on here the first Elphaba you saw live was Stephanie J. Block.

Dee is good, in my opinion, but no where near my favorite. I would personally prefer someone like Saycon to return or that new girl Alyssa to take over; even though it wasn't really mentioned I was hoping Viki Noon from San Fransisco might be brought over.
But, with the people who were considered to take over: I'm happy it's Dee.
AMEN! Nicole was the first person in the last...3 years-ish? That HASNT had experiance in the role before going on. Most cases are understudies ( Donna Vivino, Carmen Cusack, ect) who get bumped up.
I would settle for Elphaba to be played by a goat!
**Queue the Julia Murney jokes!**
Honestly, the producers don't care. As long as they can get a warm body to hit the notes and make it onto the forklift in time, they don't care. No one playing Elphaba should ever get star billing because they alternate non-stop because the role shreds your voice. The producers will toss you like a used-up piece of fruit after they squeeze the juice out of you. However, some actresses are stupid enough to come back after their throat has healed. I guess times are tough.
edit : Thought this was funnier.
I'm sure it's a sweet payday though, at the expense of your vocals. To quote Ursula, "it won't cost much, just your voice."
On a WICKED tour, I have yet to see the Elphaba listed as the star. Most of the stand-bys were great, but what good is being cast in a show if the lead is forced to destroy her voice. It's a hot mess.
You would think that these women would know prier to taking the role what it would do to them. Caissie Levy had to have SURGERY!!!
Julia Murney could barely speak when she left the tour years back. It is some tough stuff to sing and when you don't nail those notes, people freak out and post it on here. Its a lose-lose for many of these poor actresses. People on here were SHREDDING Nicole during her first performances and now they are kissing her butt. Playing Elphaba is a tough row to hoe...no doubt. I can't see anyone going back, but they do.

For those who want to see Nicole's last show it is going to be the 19th of July. They asked her to extend but her obligations in California make that impossible for now. She has agreed to stay through the weekend and do the Sunday show on the 19th. Her movie premier is on the 20th so she will be making a quick flight. She hopes to revisit the role in the future especially if and when it returns to LA as that is 10 minutes from her home. If someone could post this info at WoO that would be great for those who are buying tickets. This is Seth, some of you have met me if you want to verify this info. Thanks all.

Nicole was actually the first principal Elphaba on broadway without any other experience in the show.

I understand the producers strategy of recycling. It's a tough-ass role that carries the show and requires 110%. It's a huge risk throwing someone who has never performed the role before into a principal position. Training new girls through stand-by and understudy roles is the best was to gauge how a performer will react in a principal position, without throwing them on 8 shows a week.
It's expensive to have the stand-by going on all the time for a principal who isn't living up to the producers blind-expectations. It also affects the public-opinion of the show, which the producers don't want to fu*k with, considering word-of-mouth is what's made the show so successful in the first place. The producers don't want rumors of a burnt-out show floating around, especially right before the summer during a major recession.

I don't have any funny names for Julia like I have for Ms. Ravioli, but I will say Julia gives me the willies with her rectangular eyes. Also, when she guested on Sex and the City, I really thought she was a dude.

Don't even get me started on how much I hate Kate86. She's no Kate85, that's for sure!

"I pity the people who pay good money to see Dee Ravioli."
Yeah well Phyillis I think your an ass for saying that... you obviously do not know what talent is... Dee has a heart of gold and brings 110% to the stage every night...
I think all of you guys need to stop bashing Dee... I really don't see all of you on Broadway anytime soon... I think you all need to get your acts together and stop being assholes on here... You are all talking crap on here about nothing...
Oh.. and anyone who says Jenny Dinoia has a weak voice can go screw themselves because Jenny does NOT have a weak voice and she also gives her all at every performance...
I really think you all need to grow up because you are all making yourselves look like assholes!
Dee..... just no...
Who pissed in your cheerio's? I'm pretty sure a lot of the people on this thread are mostly saying that we would like to see some NEW take over the role.
Besides, no one follows any rules here. Everyone is fair game.

I does not matter one bit if you want someone "new" to take over or not. You people need to learn to treat performers with RESPECT. despite if you like them OR NOT.
Dee Roscioli has first of all, never even been on broadway so get over yourselves and give her the chance she deserves. Dee is a performer who is genuine and lets the audience have her heart when she performs. She is inspirational. people who are able to see her should count themselves LUCKY enough to be in her audience.
