Wait, how can Passing Strange be nominated for Best Score and not Best Musical? Shouldn't it be eligible for both? I call bull****.

Some of these nominations are ludicrous! I can't believe Sherie Rene Scott (I loved her performance, don't get me wrong-it's just not earth shattering) beat out Loretta Ables-Sayre (South Pacific) for the nomination. Unbelievable. I loved Sayre's performance. She was amazing. And Matt Morrison was excellent-he should've been there along with Danny Burstein for featured actor. I hope South Pacific and Xanadu get their awards. That's all I can say.
And August should've cleaned up more in other categories, too. I hope the Drama Desks and Tonys set things right.

I love that XANADU will probably (unless YF does...) win Best Musical but failed to get a single other nomination. WTF

What a mess! I guess they weren't feeling any love for Passing Strange. And poor Amy Morton. There is no way she shouldn't have been nominated.

Amy Warren should kick butt in the featured musical actress category but the two other actors should have been nominated also.

I wonder how much Mel Brooks paid the committee to get YF nominated 10 times. With the show not doing amazingly well, his advertising dollars were better spent here buying the committee their next vacation to the caribbean.

Well some of these are odd, (Cry Baby? Really? At all?) but my day was pretty much made with Alice Ripley getting a nom, she was fantastic in Next to Normal. I'm glad they thought so too.
Now what would you say if today I started over?

I just don't understand how they determined that Herbie was a leading performance when, since the original production featuring Jack Klugman, Herbie has ALWAYS been nominated for every award in the Featured Actor slot. Why all of a sudden is it a leading role?

Is He Dead? was eligible for Best Revival of a Play, Best Actor, etc etc...
In the Heights, however, was ineligible as it was nominated last year in the Off-Broadway categories.

I am beginning to think people nominate Boyd Gaines no matter WHAT he does. Really, Roger Bart? Over Cheyenne? That's just absurd. Honestly, most of these nominations are pretty shady. No one will convince me Young Frankenstein deserved anything.
