"Just thought this: Phil Lewis/Mr. Moseby as Cogsworth!"

I quite like that idea being a fan of Downton Abbey and Downton Abbey has lot of great British actors. Also, I quite like the thought of Hugh Bonneville being Cogsworth aswell. I think he would be good in the part.

sorry my mistake. thinking of someone else. i was thinking of mr MOSLEY who is a character in Downton Abbey lol!!! now remembering who mr moseby actually is, he could be good in the part.

I was also thinking...how about Rowan Atkinson as Cogsworth?

Rowan would be great, and he's worked with Disney before. He was the voice of Zasu in The Lion King.

Rowan Atkinson could work, another Blackadder inspired choice would be either Stephen Fry although he can't sing or Hugh Laurie.

i really like the thought of hugh laurie as cogsworth. him and rowan atkinson can bring both the singing and the comedy trait to the role. for lumiere, i really love the thought of tom hiddleston. he can act, sing, dance and speak french, which would make him perfect to pull off the character. he can charm the socks off anybody...

As much as I adore Tom to pieces, he is a bit too young to play Lumiere. Typically, Lumiere is supposed to be older than The Beast/Prince, since he (like the rest of the objects) are parental/aunt and uncle figures in a way. Granted, they could go a new direction and have Lumiere be around the Prince's age, which sometimes is the case in some Broadway productions. But since Tom and Dan went to school together and only have a 2 year age gap, I think it wouldn't work as well as having a person play Lumiere who is in their mid-40's - late 50's.

Personally, I'm really hoping for Jean Dujardin. The man IS Lumiere, especially when you see him here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-eHH7RJLAY

And in case you are wondering, he's a good 10 years old than Dan, so it works for what I am saying.

Tomorrow I'm hoping not to see or hear any bad April Fool's jokes about the casting of Lumiere and Cogsworth. I'm really looking forward to this movie and the idea of someone awful playing those parts makes me scared.

I have a question: has motion capture and CGI effects used in a manner similar to what the film might use it in been used before?

James Franco IS Cogsworth!"

i am getting worried about the casting because they are supposed to be filming in May in London for this and they still have not casted the characters of Cogsworth, Lumiere, Chip nor Babette (aka Fifi).

Don't worry bout it. Disney knows what they are doing!!

lol! i know that. it's just the casting for the film has been perfect so far. it would be a shame if the casting for the characters of Cogsworth and Lumiere now are going to be rubbish. there are a lot of actors that embody the characteristics of Lumiere and Cogsworth and could pull off the characters really well.

This film will be amazing!! It's going to be perfect in every way! I can't wait to see it 20 times in the theater!

i'll probably see it a few times myself especially that Dan Stevens and Luke Evans are now on board. it's a shame that we have to wait 2 years for it though. perhaps they'll release some on-set photos/footage of the shoot in May.

I'm not sure you should be all that concerned for them not casting the animated voice roles they won't be on set anyway they could cast them late into the process even after filming.

I do not know how much Imelda Staunton, Lesley Manville, and Juno Temple were involved during the scenes in Maleficent where they were CGI pixies. I remember Staunton saying in an interview that they did not work much with Jolie since all of their characters scenes were in CGI. They only filmed one scene with Elle Fanning and that was when they were in their human form. Maybe the actors in thsi film will do some motion capture work, but I have not heard anything about that yet.

I'm starting to get a clearer imagination about how they might do the objects. The principal objects will probably end up being motion capture (like we all thought), and the background/dancing objects will probably be just CGI, because I rewatched some scenes from the animated film, and those objects didn't have human-like traits, like Lumiere for instance.

I think Lumiere may be the easiest one to do probably; one difference I can see with him is that his face may no longer be the candle wax, but perhaps the fire(?) . It's Mrs Potts and The Wardrobe that I'm very curious about.

I was thinking Lumiere could be a brass statuette, perhaps like a lamp lighter figurine with his arm and leg attatched to a candle stick, it's hard to explain but it works in my mind, think of a brass statue that moves, Cogsworth could be easy too and Mrs. Potts could stay a tea set with facial features, I think "Garderobe" could be done similar to the Broadway version but have her made out of wood with a carved face on top. :)
