I looked up some past Beauty and the Beast Concept Art, and there are some really cool ways the objects could be done! Some of the ways are especially usefull if they decide to go the "slowly morphing into objects" route.
"As well, the recent announcement of Mulan as another Disney film that will be updated into a live-action remake, the Beauty and the Beast cast may be feeling a little competition. Could Mulan threaten Beauty and the Beast's success? It's not entirely clear."
That's not news, that's mindless gossip and speculation.

That article is complete bull. Rampant speculation based on nothing. It's known that the beast will be special effects make-up and not CGI. The same make-up team that did the Beast in X-Men First Class is on board.
I can totally see a release date delay, however! And, I think they would be kind of smart to delay the film a few months, because, let's face it: this is not an easy film to take on.
However, I'm not a professional, and for all I know it is entirely possible to make a wonderful film with this amount of time.
Keira Knightly has to be a rumor. A big-name star would not do such a tiny part. Not to mention, she's in a play on Broadway. Give Babette to a unknown, like Audra!
"Tom Hiddleston=YES YES YES Keira Knightly has to be a rumor. A big-name star would not do such a tiny part. Not to mention, she's in a play on Broadway. Give Babette to a unknown, like Audra!"
Well, I don't think Audra is necessarily an "unknown", but I agree! Give a small name the part! It's not that large of a role anyway!
These things rarely are set in stone until filming, remember it was late during the rehearsal period that Sophia Grace was booted from Into the Woods. :)
I hope they don't have Pierce Brosnan in as Cogsworth. He was awful in Mamma Mia and cannot hold a note. They need somebody who has the comedy side to the character and can pull it off really well. My first choice would be Rowan Atkinson as Cogsworth and Tom Hiddleston as Lumiere. They would be perfect casting for the two characters.
Found the following report on the "Tom Hiddleston News" page on twitter...
so i don't know what to believe at the moment as far as casting goes. I wish they would have him as Lumiere as he would be perfect. If they are already in rehearsals though, surely they would have to finish the casting of the characters pretty quick as they are supposed to be starting filming for it in May.

Well, if the objects are going to be CGI, I bet they're not too rushed with the casting in that department. Not much rehearsal is required for voice acting, and the only real life scene they'll probably be doing is the final scene anyways. Then again, this is all speculation, since we don't know how the objects will be done yet.

According to the IMDB website, Audra McDonald is still listed as "rumoured" even though recent reports indicate that she has officially joined the film as the wardrobe.
so i don't know what is happening as far as the casting goes. All i know is, the casting for the rest of the characters better be as good as the other actors they have casted (Emma, Dan, Luke, etc...).
