Wow, I hope the last 2 posts are going to be what the new BWW looks like! Finally some positivity in these threads!
I, too, love the show, and it holds a very special place in my heart. I love all the cast members, and frequently make return visits to see understudies and new ensemble members! Seriously every understudy is fantastic in their own right and you are not missing out when a cast member calls out. Hope everyone gets a chance to see this show!

If you like Disney, especially the movie Frozen, you will definitely enjoy the show. There's something in there for everyone! Some of my absolute favorite parts are new material. I'll be interested to hear what you think about those moments :) I was fortunate to get to see the show a few times in Denver, where I live, and I've made two trips to NYC this year where I saw it multiple times. Everyone gives such a solid performance! I'm blown away each time and I love the changes they made between Denver & NY. I'm also moved each time I see it. For me, Frozen is a coming out story and I relate so deeply to Elsa. Her new material adds so much depth to the character and Caissie literally moves me to tears every time. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have :)

I saw Alyssa Fox and Aisha Jackson. I honestly thought I would love the show more, but I didn't. I had seen Alyssa Fox as Elphaba and she was amazing(probably one of the best Elphabas ever), but as Elsa she was completely underwhelming. I want to see her again though to see if my opinion will change, because I love her as a performer. Aisha was great. Overall, though, the show itself was a disappointment for me. It just fell flat. Maybe I need to see Caissie

I will admit I was not a fan of Alyssa's Elsa when I first saw the show. However, I have seen her twice in the role since and each time I see her I begin to appreciate and fall in love with her performance. Sure, it's different than Caissie but she's still very good. As is the Elsa understudy, Ashley Blanchet, whom there are no words that can do justice to just how amazing her performance is. I hope whenever Alyssa leaves the show Ashley can be the standby or even one day the principal.
I will sing Aisha's praises until the day I day. She was born to play this role. Absolutely perfect in every way.

Caissie and Patti are amazing in the roles but if they don't happen to be there, you'll still be in good hands with any of the women who play Anna and Elsa. I have had the privilege and great luck (thanks to my unusually good luck with the ticket lottery) over my return trips to the show to see all the women who cover the roles, and they are all fantastic.

Nude saunas are a part of life in many countries. Not that weird, and it was handled with discretion and humor. It's barely even naughty.
Also, it it had been cut, something else would have to replace it. Behind that curtain that they are dancing in front of, a scene change is taking place.

I adore Hygge! I think it is a hilarious light moment that features the ensemble, who look like they genuinely are having fun with the number, while people get back to their seats. I love that there's a nude scene in a Disney show haha! Well played Kristen and Bobby! I also ADORE the Elsa pantsuit! I've sat front row and it is a work of art, but even more gorgeous are the boots that Caissie is wearing with that costume. Holy cow they are beautiful. Actually, I love every costume and am still bitter they didn't get a costume Tony nomination. The costumes are really well done. Fun story, I got smacked in the face with Caissie's cape when she leaned on the side of the stage in the middle of freezing everything haha! It might have been the best moment of my life hahahaha!

Thanks! I think I'll just see how it goes on the day. A lot of other shows are farrrr from sold out. I could almost buy the whole mezz at Torch Song for what the asking price on 1 resale Frozen ticket!
On ticketmaster & the official Frozen site there is a warning that the show is for children over 8 years of age, but looking at places like Tripadvisor it seems like many people ignore that & bring toddlers. I know my own niece at 5 is quite mature - mainly because my brother's wife is sort of a stereotypical helicopter parent - but I don't know that I would take her to a show lasting over 2 hours.

It seems to be common that Disney on Broadway shows are family friendly but also modified from the animated counterparts to cater more to adults. Makes total sense given the audiences on Broadway. But I can understand that the common Disney or theme park fanatic may not get how Broadway works and hence will have negative reviews of a show. I know it's happened with Aladdin and The Little Mermaid and now it seems to be with Frozen too. I'm embarrassed to say I still haven't seen the Lion King--I guess I keep taking for granted that it's not going anywhere so I keep buying tickets for shows that aren't around as long.

IMO, you should stay for the whole thing if you want to see the show. If you just want to see what’s in the movie, see the movie and don’t bother. What’s the point?
If you want to see the show, see it. You come to see the overall picture, the performances, the staging, etc. There are new things in both acts. And familiar things in both. Leaving in the middle means you don’t get a chance to make up your own mind of what’s worthwhile. Different people like different things. The castle or lack of the one people hoped to see..,it’s one minute of the show. Move on...
I can’t imagine leaving in the middle of anything. I would always wonder what I missed.

If you leave before Monster or Colder By the Minute you're crazy haha! Act 2 is great! I would stay for the whole thing. Yes, it is based on the movie, but there is new material in both acts and Anna & Elsa's journeys are so much deeper in the show. You would miss that if you skip out. If you just want to hear Let It Go, watch the music video for free. Caissie sounds that good, actually even better live, but it's 3.5 minutes of a 2 hour show. I would definitely go to see the show, and not just Let It Go. Plus, if you like hearing Caissie do that song you'll for sure want to hear her do Monster.

I LOVE the darkness too! It definitely ages it up a bit, but I also think it makes it more relatable for adults. Life is hard, and sometimes it's dark. I like that they didn't sugarcoat everything for kids. They literally throw out the idea of suicide in a Disney show.
Hahaha I loved Hygge! I think it's hilarious and the ensemble looks like they have a blast with it. I sat front row and was dying laughing because that angle is just really funny hahahaha! And the ensemble knows it, and makes a lot of eye contact and engages the front a lot during that number. Is it musical theater genius? No, but it wasn't supposed to be. It's supposed to be a light comedic moment that is kind of fluffy. I liked the interview with Bobby and Kristen where they talked about that song, it's purpose and feel and how they also just thought it was funny to write a naked song for a Disney show. Hahaha, but I recognize that song is not for everyone lol :)
