Wow, after reading a few of the posts here and especially on ATC yesterday--bashing Signature for "blundering" and being "unprepared" for the Angels in America demand, I felt embarrassed enough to start this thread.
This theater company and its current $20 ticket initiative is nothing short of awesome. I was a subscriber for several years running and last year, in an attempt to cut back on my theater spending, I quit--right before Orphans Home Cycle began! So I had to scramble for tickets.
But it never would have occurred to me to blame Signature for my decision not to re-up, or to complain bitterly that it was the fault of this tiny, quality company that tickets were suddenly so hard to come by. I just kicked myself for not subscribing and made sure it didn't happen to me this time around!
Perhaps more than on ATC, people on this board seem to get that in order to see wonderful theater on the cheap, you have to do some work. You've got to stand on rush lines, sleep in Central Park, join TDF if you qualify, and remember when Signature subscriptions go on sale or when $10 Roundabout tix are available. Yes, the Kushner subscriptions sold out in a day, but it wasn't impossible to get through nor did you have to take a day off from work. If you didn't want to see the other plays, you'd still have had your choice of Angels dates and avoided the crush for your $100...not to mention a membership even entitled you to purchase guest tickets for the $20 price! And the box office people are unfailingly polite and pleasant, no matter how chaotic the situation.
Just want to make sure--in case any Signature folks look at these boards--that they know how appreciated they are.
