Wow, after reading a few of the posts here and especially on ATC yesterday--bashing Signature for "blundering" and being "unprepared" for the Angels in America demand, I felt embarrassed enough to start this thread.
This theater company and its current $20 ticket initiative is nothing short of awesome. I was a subscriber for several years running and last year, in an attempt to cut back on my theater spending, I quit--right before Orphans Home Cycle began! So I had to scramble for tickets.
But it never would have occurred to me to blame Signature for my decision not to re-up, or to complain bitterly that it was the fault of this tiny, quality company that tickets were suddenly so hard to come by. I just kicked myself for not subscribing and made sure it didn't happen to me this time around!
Perhaps more than on ATC, people on this board seem to get that in order to see wonderful theater on the cheap, you have to do some work. You've got to stand on rush lines, sleep in Central Park, join TDF if you qualify, and remember when Signature subscriptions go on sale or when $10 Roundabout tix are available. Yes, the Kushner subscriptions sold out in a day, but it wasn't impossible to get through nor did you have to take a day off from work. If you didn't want to see the other plays, you'd still have had your choice of Angels dates and avoided the crush for your $100...not to mention a membership even entitled you to purchase guest tickets for the $20 price! And the box office people are unfailingly polite and pleasant, no matter how chaotic the situation.
Just want to make sure--in case any Signature folks look at these boards--that they know how appreciated they are.

I completely agree with every word that was written here. The fact that people have been attacking Signature, a wonderful theater that does everything in its power to put on great shows and make tickets affordable, really upsets me. They also have one of the friendliest Box Office staffs I have ever come into contact with. This is an institution that should be celebrated, not bashed.
Thank you for writing this.
People have been attacking Signature??? Whiny dumbasses.
Signature Theatre has one of the most righteous mission statements in the country. I love this theatre! God bless 'em.

I don't know how the box office person I talked to managed to sound so happy to talk to me and answer questions for what must have been the five billionth time when I called.
Too funny OP, I was actually thinking last night about making a thread like this!
This is my first year as a Signature subscriber. Honestly, this is my first year as a subscriber to *any* theatre. And I will admit that I subscribed purely for ANGELS; I have never seen it onstage and this was what I most wanted to see in the 2010-2011 season. Thanks to people here and on ATC predicting how crazy getting tickets was going to be I decided to not chance the single ticket sales, and signed up for a subscription the minute they went on sale May 18. Signature started booking subscriber seats on June 15th, by June 17th I had my email confirmation (and had received my first choice dates for both performances- bonus!)
At $100 for four productions, two of them being the productions I *most* wanted to see this season, I have no complaints with Signature.

AGREED! HERE HERE to the creation of this thread!
And while we're at it...how about a "Official Wishing/Praying Signature sends 'Orphans's Home Cycle' to Broadway thread"??? (With our without the incredible/gorgeous Mr. Heck.)

I love Signature. I rarely get to see professional shows, but I've seen three at Signature (Les Miserables, Sweeney Todd, and First You Dream), and each one has been superb in production and performances.
pssssst, Schmerg- Wrong Signature Theatre (though yours is good too)

Schmerg, we're talking about Signature in NYC, not Shirlington, VA.
I was perfectly happy to be able to pay for extension tickets and had no issues yesterday with the exception of getting no form of confirmation - email or otherwise - besides the girl at the table saying "Here is your order number." Since I used plastic, I've got a little bit of leverage should anything happen - I did see some people paying cash, which would definitely make me nervous not getting anything besides "Write down this number." But that was my only quibble.
My primary quibble was with people who took the "You should have gotten a subscription" line. I DID try to get a subscription, but by the time I was able to get through, the subscriptions were sold out, and several of the people in line around me were in the same boat. So not everyone who didn't get a subscription was lazy and thought we would just breeze in. A good number of people legitimately tried to get subscriptions and were unable to get through before they were sold out.
I'm thrilled that we HAVE Signature and that they already had the extension option yesterday. :)
I bought a subscription online, hours after they went on sale. Was there a problem in the morning?

At work, I was unable to get on the internet that day because we were having server issues. I was unable to get through on the phone, and by the time I got home to my working internet, they were sold out. That's what happened with me.
But again, I am not unhappy with Signature! :)
