Hopefully they will just scrap the character of Arachne, but I doubt it. I think TV Carpio should do it. She has such a crappy role for such a good voice, but the of Arachne isn't that great either I guess.

I thought Arachne as a character and in particular her scenes were some of the strongest points of the show. T.V was on Tuesday when I saw it, and she did fantastic. I never saw Mendoza, but it is a role there isn't much to do with beyond what's given, and T.V. Carpio did just fine with that.

According to the official website, T.V. Carpio is the new Arachne and Alice Lee is Miss Arrow.

T.V was great the night I saw. No biggie, but I'm sure the media's going to make a huge deal into this.

Am I the only one under the impression that Mendoza was fired?
I know, right?

I partially agree. But at the same time they all sign contracts which require them to stay in the show for x amount of time. The only person who can leave the show for good is Chris, and even he wants to return. Maybe it was a forced resignation or she came to an agreement with the producers. I find it slightly ridiculous that she left over one concussion and Chris, who was severely injured, wants to return. These are all just my thoughts.

While I found it odd and unsatisying that neither Mendoza nor the production ever confirmed the reason for her departure, from all I've read I am pretty sure that it was her decision to leave, and that she used her injury as leverage to be let out of her contract. She quit.

It would not surprise me, though, if they let her go without any threats of breach of contract suits or anything like that. A smart producer would be well-served to let an actor go when they are truly unhappy and want out, especially in a show as complex as this. Unhappy actors tend to turn in a sloppier performance and just radiate a vibe backstage that can be very negative. I've had unhappy actors on shows who, for whatever reason, would not actually quit and everybody else just wished they would. It definitely made backstage/offstage life difficult (and didn't help that the worst example was on a TYA tour, so there was never any escaping from said unhappy actress).

Is this role supposed to be played by an Asian woman? Not sure but based on their pictures, I get the sense that both Carpio and Mendoza are Filipino or part-Filipino. I was just curious.

I don't think that's the intent. Just a coincidence.

Music and acting have been a part of Natalie's life from an early age. Her father is Spanish/Filipino jazz pianist and arranger Noel Mendoza, and her English/German mother, Robin Jackson, is an Australian TV personality. Music has always been a huge part of Natalie's life and her band, Jackson Mendoza, have enjoyed huge hits in Australia and been signed to Virgin records internationally.

Maybe Mendoza could serve as a replacement a year from now.

So you brought this thread up again just to spread a rumor like that? Why?
Mendoza obviously did get a concussion. If not, this was one of the biggest hoaxes in recent Broadway history. But did she get a concussion AND act b*tchy backstage? Who knows. If I were in her position I probably wouldn't have been a joy to be around either.

...one of the Equity deputies for the show.
They would surely love you spreading this info on a public forum.

"The actor who released this information did so to a large group of people in a union setting."
And that's where the information should have remained.
You really need to delete that post.

One person saying it does NOT make it fact. What was your point in stating it here? Just mean spirited.
And WHY would the production have allowed themselves to look bad by speaking of her accident?
Ridiculous. (She may be a brat to work with in ADDITION to being injured -- but I don't really care.)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Personally, I always thought it was odd when the press releases regarding her "concussion" said she was "recuperating" in Malibu. I've never heard of a doctor that said it was a good idea for a patient under their care with a concussion to get into a pressurized metal tube and fly 30,000 feet in the air all the way across the country.
I'm just saying.

It is possible for a post to be in questionable taste without it breaking the rules of this board. This isn't "relevant information", it's gossip, acquired, if true, from a closed door union session. I will personally see to it that the Equity deputies of this show see this post. With luck, they'll know who you are and will never trust you with sensitive information again.
