SO was in one of the souvenir shops at the marquee and i notice they have Bombshell shirts and mugs and magnets, apparently one of the broadway merch companies was commissioned to do official merch for the fictional shows in SMASH and before they could get it on the shelves the show was cancelled, but apparently its been selling well enough that we may see Hit List stuff soon.
The only thing I request... a Hit List album.
'Hit List' Merch Idea:
Sunglasses that say "Hit List" on them
The only thing I request...a Broadway version of Bombshell.
As much as I agree, at least it will live on in the concert form. It would take longer for a book to be developed, whether or not they stick with the synopsis in the album booklet.
I whole heartedly believe we will see "Bombshell" on stage one day and. I expect the book would be completely new though and they wouldn't use the whole "score" from the show.
As long as they include "Don't Forget Me", "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", "Let Me Be Your Star", "Cut, Print, Moving On", "Smash", "Public Relations", "On Lexington and 52nd Street", and "Second Hand White Baby Grand" I'm fine with them cutting some of the score.
What about, They Just Keep Moving The Line? That's my favorite Bombshell song!
Include "Let's Be Bad"!
I forgot about those! Yes, those two as well!
This is what I expect they would keep… I personally like that we get to see more of Marilyn's men than just Joe.

If it ever transfers to stage, the composers and book writer are going to have a hard time trying to figure out what parts of the score to cut. It's almost as if they wrote too many songs.

I think there is a huge market for Smash merch. (Smerch?)
-"Don't talk to me I'm in TECH!" desk signs
- Kyle T-shirts with tread marks on them
-Eileen Rand Martini Slingshots
- Leo Oatmeal

Ignoring the snark, the I'm In Tech idea would probably make a great shirt.
At 22 songs, BOMBSHELL is not a hugely overloaded show music-wise. It's simply a question of, how much does Marilyn really tax her voice singing it? There are lots of songs, especially when she steps out of Norma Jean to be "Marilyn," that aren't nearly as vocally taxing and have more character work with the breathy Betty Boop voice and such. So the question is, is Norma Jean/Marilyn harder than other monolithic roles like Evita, Joseph's Narrator, Mama Rose, or less dominant but still vocally taxing roles like Elphaba?
A few other questions would need to be answered by either bookwriter or casting director: does it matter that the male characters are mostly ciphers against the more three-dimensional Marilyn (as SMASH indicated the characters' vision of the show to be)? Or is a more nuanced and developed take being used?
Is BOMBSHELL an enormous huge-cast, huge-spectacle show or a smaller piece?
Who is the male lead? Or, at least, the arbitrary one? Are any of the roles doubled, given their relatively small amount of "stage time" in Marilyn's life? (I had assumed when the BOMBSHELL album came out that the roles of Zaneck and Arthur Miller were doubled, but it quickly emerged that Christian Borle/Tom Levitt played multiple roles on the concept album.)
The fact is: Bombshell is, at this time, nothing more than a collection of songs of varying quality that more or less tell the story of Marilyn Monroe. It is existing somewhere between concept album and song cycle at this point.
It has no book and no indication that it could even really work onstage.
There's a show "treatment outline" included with the concept album. The treatment outline differs in multiple ways from the representation of the show onscreen, leading many to believe that there are at least IDEAS for how the show would play as a full musical.

If they do Hit List Merch I hope there is a script you can buy and read and try to figure out what it's about and how it won a Tony for Best Book.
Would love some hit list merchandise!
And I thought I was the only one who preferred Hit List over Bombshell :)
It obviously doesn't have a typical Broadway sound, which I love. I would think it would be succesful if it transferred, just because of it's sound Updated On: 7/31/13 at 02:58 PM
They are selling "Bombshell" merch in a store that is about to close. Perfect.

I just don't think Julia will have any interest in working on that book anymore. She is over it.
No I prefer Bombshell over Hit List any day but I did enjoy the music for that show and would love to have the music.
