That is very strange that she did that. Maybe she is not a pretenious bitch.

and GW could be the smartest man to ever step into the white house... but......
I think I'm more upset with Kelly calling Ashley Browne Amanda Browne and Josh Strickland Josh Something
What?
Kelly Ripa was telling a story about Disney giving money to a hospital and Ashley Browne and Josh Strickland were there to help give it away
There's a fine line between bitchy humor and nerdy theatre geek humor... This page has some prime examples of both...
I think what is really worse, musicrox, is that you say you are upset that Kelly Rippa called Ashley by the wrong name. I assume this is because you are a fan. However, if you are a fan, shouldn't you know that her last name is spelled "Brown" instead of "Browne". It's not a typo either, cause you wrote it twice. Sorry, not trying to be bitchy, I just found it ironically funny.

I know this is going to be very, very upsetting for many of you, but go look up almost any Broadway cast recording on amazon.co.uk and it will be listed as a soundtrack. Yes, IT'S TRUE!!
Dreamgirls Broadway "Soundtrack"
Does it matter what it's called, as long as it means the same thing?
Er...the point is, it doesn't mean the same thing. "Cast recording" isn't a term invented by a group of show queens--it's the proper name for a recording of a show's cast. Soundtracks are for movies--music that has been recorded and plays over the motion of a film. Although you could call the soundtrack of a movie musical a "cast recording" and technically be correct (since it is a recording of that cast), it doesn't really work the other way around.
Yes, yes, WE know that. But frankly, if someone else doesn't, who the eff CARES?
Sometimes, when I'm with a friend that's particularly un-theatre-savvy, I'll refer to it as a soundtrack, just because I know they don't know what a cast recording is. Maybe Beyonce just didn't think the American public knew what a cast recording was?

Beyonce wouldn't have thought that deeply.
And, Cast Recording and Soundtracks are DIFFERENT THINGS! I'm bugged by that as much as people call musicals, just a "play"
Technically, it's a musical play, but musicals should be called as musicals.
Really people. Remove the sticks. You'll be so much happier going through life with lower blood pressure.
Yeah, they're not the same thing, but 99% of the population lumps them together.

Yeah, that bothers me.
Big deal, very few people that aren't Broadway fans know the proper term.

Why has no one pointed that finger at Kim Crobsy? Shouldn't she know better than Beyonce? Kim Crosby is actually on a cast recording and she doesn't call it a cast recording.
J'accuse Kim Crosby! J'accuse!

Because nobody cares about Kim Crosby anymore. 1988 is ovah!

Assuming, of course, that no one crosses a boundary that YOU find offensive . . .
Glass houses are a bitch to clean - I'd avoid them if at all possible.
I'm sorry but even the NYT now calls cast recordings "soundtracks"...
So get over it!
"And she doesn'r speak very well."
Well you don't (yes, that's a t at the end, not an r) spell very well.
Oh! And I believe Beyonce spells theatre with an -er, not an -re. Let's hang her by her weave!

J'accuse!
I’ll never understand why people let themselves get so worked up over the cast recording/soundtrack thing. As far as I’m concerned, if I’ve corrected someone once and he or she still calls it a soundtrack, I’ve done my part. That person is the one who looks stupid, not me. I understand being annoyed, but I don’t understand the blood-boiling anger some people get because of this. Why let yourself get worked over something so minor in the grand scheme of things?
As my grandmother used to say, "Choose your battles."
