Until all the shows have opened this season and the nominations have been announced, I don't see the need to say this production will win awards.
When Shakespeare's play premiered, no matter the time period of the play, the costumes were modern or contemporary dress.
I hope the promotion for this production will make it clear it is not the usual Oklahoma.

Am I looking forward to this production? YES. What I'm not looking forward to is everyone who doesn't understand that the title OKLAHOMA! Has an exclamation point at the end. Drives me bonkers. ![]()

Love these graphics. I think the color scheme does a great job communicating that this isn't a feel-good musical.

By bringing modern visuals to a period story that's filled with references to that period, it makes it so that the themes become unavoidable. You can't help but see how it reflects modern American life. This production focuses on the violence on which America was built. By putting the cast in contemporary dress, we see how that fact is still true now.
This is a very odd production. A friend of mine said that this production seems like it was directed by Yorgos Lathimos and Ivo Van Hove in an attempt to test American sentimentality."
Looooove the comparison to Yorgos Lanthimos whose movies I adore. And to the person worried about the costumes, while the clothes broadly feel more modern dress than period specific, they aren't quite normal contemporary either--the designer has done some very interesting and specific work blending elements of period clothes with a contemporary look heightening the focus on the inevitability of violence that GeorgeandDot mentions here. You could very well still hate the costumes, but I don't think you'll find them unthoughtful. As with so much in this production, they feel deceptively simple but appear more and more considered as the production goes on (and as it stays in one's mind after the fact).

I didn’t get a chance to see this at St. Ann’s; I heard some of the most polar opposite reviews of a show in a long time. It seems to be either the best or worst show in years for most people.
As long as the full score is there, I’m going in with an open mind.

When I saw it, I immediately thought of David Lynch.

What are the chances of this selling out during the presale before tickets go on sale to the general public since it's a limited run with around only 199 performances?

I'd say nil. Many times, they don't even make all the seats available during pre-sale. But if by some weirdness it did sell out in the pre-sale, you can be it would extend beyond what's been announced so far.

Hadestown does

Posted: 12/15/18 at 5:56pmHadestown has NO Sunday performances the first few weeks, and then just has Sun afternoon shows the rest of the time. The lone Sunday eve performance is 4/21 (sadly the week before I’m there)

I have absolutely zero insider knowledge, but I'd claim it's highly unlikely...the show is SO long....can you imagine them putting the cast through 4-show weekends? It feels like it'd be the beginning of a whole bunch of logistical nightmares.

All will be revealed in a couple of hours, but, FYI. the app/mobile lists the price range from $49.50 - $129.50, with the following seating chart:

Posted: 12/16/18 at 9:25amAnyone have an inside scoop as to which end the band will be at and what the “front” will be? I know at St Anne’s they said the cast played to all sides evenly, but I completely disagreed with that and definitely thought they favored one side over the other.

I do not have any inside info, but I would assume that the band would be at the open end of the horseshoe. If it were at the closed end, I think the sound mix would be off for the people sitting directly behind.
greenify, if the band is at the open end, which side is the preferred side - odds or evens?

Interesting that they don't seem to be doing the "on-stage" table seating for Broadway, at least according to this seating chart. I wonder why - it'll certainly change at least some of the blocking, specifically with Will Parker.
