Dang it PalJoey, I'm really sick and you just made me laugh so hard that I had another coughing attack.
Now, can't you see to look at me
That I'm a natural Camille?
As Camille I just feel
I've so much to offer.
Listen kid, I know I'd be divine because
I'm a natural cougher!
[Coughs]
Some ain't got it--not a lump!
I'm a great big clump of talent!
I have to say that before I went to see OTT, I was not really looking forward to it. I knew the score, which is pleasant, and the story is wafer thin. I was surprised how much I really liked it. Beautiful dancing, and some terrific performances. If only they had been given a smaller house, they could run a lot longer. That theatre swallows up so many shows, because they can't fill it. Anyway, for what it's worth, it's a good show.
Bare minimum, They should get nominations for Best revival, choreography, and for Tony Yazbeck's performance. Hopefully, they'll last long enough for these to be announced, and get a sales boost from it that can pull them through Tony season, and another boost after the broadcast. Fingers crossed!
It looks like discount codes have been pulled for the weekend. Why, I don't know, since it looks like lots of seats are still available, and I, for one, won't be seeing it without a discount.
I don't think "troll" should be hurled every time someone new comes here, even if they have the audacity to ask about the longevity and awards prospects of the greatest revival to ever happen to PalJoey.
I was hoping to go with my family this week as well, but $147 for balcony?
It will be on TKTS, though?
It will run at least till January and hopefully many months after but the only unfortunate thing about this show is that it's in the largest house on BWAY but we all know that already!

I caught the matinee today (11/19). Just wonderful. I hope this show finds legs and stays around a long time. Great super creative restaging. Massive old time Broadway orchestra with solid orchestrations. Superb cast all the way around. I've been a long time patron of NYC ballet and have been following Meghan Fairchild, her brother Robert, his wife Tiler Peck since they joined the company. Now to see Meghan on B'way, her brother soon to join her on B'way in AN AMERICAN IN PARIS and Robert's wife in LITTLE DANCER is just wonderful and a big surprise. Meghan is too cute for words but a truly spectacular dancer. However, it is hard to see her walking off with a Tony for best actress in a musical. Other than her formidable dancing, the part is just too thin. Are the other female roles in this show to be considered as best actress, or are all the others to be considered supporting female actress in a musical? Anyway, SEE THIS SHOW. The Bernstein score is first rate and songs NEW YORK NEW YORK, LONELY TOWN, I CAN COOK, SOMEOTHER TIME well, this just adds to the reworking of this winner and creates an even bigger distance from that dreadful MGM film version
Is there any chance of getting this taped for Great Performances? I'm upset that chances are I'll never get to see it again. Well, at least I'll have the cast album.
Looks like the discount code that was expiring today is back in action (even though broadwayabox still says it expires today). I tested it through mid-December and it was working... FYI.
anyone know why Phillip Boykin has left the show?? His last day was Dec. 14?? He was highlight of the show for me.
He's still in the cast bio section. Perhaps he knew he was better than just being in the ensemble?
Did they flip the SYTYCD winner in already, perhaps?
PlaybillVault says Nicholas Ward replaced Boykin on 12/16. A shame - Boykin was fabulous, but he can undoubtably make a lot more money doing opera than he can in an ensemble contract of a Broadway musical.
Did he ever go on for Pitkin?

I thought this guy (SYTYCD) is replacing Christopher Vo in Jan. who leaves for King & I rehearsals...
doubtful as they are still on tour. I believe I heard that he'd go into the show in Feb?

Does anyone have an idea or the real number for the OTT weekly nut. An orchestra of 28 and cast of 30 it surely must be pushing the boundaries.

Boykin will be back. He had a scheduled hiatus so he could do some work in Japan.

It looks like I might be heading back to NYC again the first week of January. Really want to see this. Glad to hear from those who are giving it a thumbs up.

I agree - there seems to be an oft-repeated guess that it's around $650k, which I think is underestimating things, considering the size of the production and rent on that vast theatre (even though they aren't using the whole thing).
I think they got a break on the rent at the Lyric. It's not exactly a desirable theater due to its size.
I doubt the owners will kick OTT out of the Lyric as nobody is awaiting to put their show in that theater till...?
Unfortunately, it will be the producers decision to close as the grosses are not good but that theater is so huge and why don't they just close the balcony? It just may be added to the list of many shows that eventually will close at some point in January.
