EEeek..
Did LB not open in time, or was it snubbed?
#2re: Outer Critics Noms
Posted: 4/23/07 at 12:06pmWell Princeton, considering that neither Coram Boy nor Radio Golf has opened yet, I am going to assume that Legally Blonde was snubbed...which is a shame. Mary Poppins should not have gotten a nomination.

Apparently (this is only what I'm reading), Orfeh is the only nominee from LB on the OCC list.
Edited to add: Poppins leads the field with ELEVEN NOMS? WOW.

Ebersole and Grey Gardens won LAST year, so they weren't eligible this year.
And man, they must have really hated Legally Blonde.

MARY POPPINS with 11 nominations including Gavin Lee and Daniel Jenkins?!?!? How did THAT happen? Was anyone else luke warm about that show?
No SPRING AWAKENING acting noms? Lighting? Yikes. The lighting design for SA was much better than MARY POPPINS, in my opinion anyway.
No surprise about LEGALLY BLONDE getting the proverbial shaft. I'm sure the Tony committee will be kinder, but probably not much.

I'd like to be the first to say, I'm pleased for Ashley. I think a lot of people write off her contribution to that show. But her talent can't be denied.
I'm shocked SA's lighting was forgotten, too--but they combine plays and musicals, Broadway and Off. And Mary Poppins had a TON of practical lighting and that whole number at the end where the starlighters light up the whole place.

I'm a little shocked that Brown was nominated over Monk.
#18re: Outer Critics Noms
Posted: 4/23/07 at 12:37pmOverall, I must say that I am happy with the nominations. I'm glad Mary Poppins was recognized here because based on all the discussions on these boards, it will not be recognized too much at the Tony Awards. If I had to nominate either LoveMusik or Legally Blonde, I would also choose LoveMusik.

"I'm a little shocked that Brown was nominated over Monk."
Well it seems that they didn't stick to closely to the "above the title" rules like the Tonys do because Jennifer Ehle got nominated as leading. That being said, I am more surprised that CHARLOTTE D'AMBOISE was nominated as featured over Monk, who it seem would have fit better there with these nominations.

Not that it completely helps make a comparison:
Grey Gardens was nominated for 7
*Musical
Score
*Actress
Featured Actress (Wilson)
Director
Set Design
Costume Design

I agree...Monk should be featured...the only real leading role in that show is DHP.

Did DISNEY buy theses awards?
That is just crazy, score????
Ashkey Brown over Block and Bundy????
THE APPLE TREE in Best Revival, they lost all credibility right there.
