That young man dances his emotions like butterflies on the stage; he is a master.
It's no mistake to cast him in the Stanhope role that brought Olivier acclaim.
Liev, while a good stage actor with a fine voice, can give heavy and "forced" performances, like his Macbeth in the Park, a show best forgotten. And he was pretty heavy in Betrayal, not to mention oddly cast. I haven't seen his Talk Radio.
what would the Screen Actor Awards be compared to?
Tony = Oscars
Drama Desk = Screen actor?
Outer Critics = Golden Globe

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree. ~Dirty Rotten Scoundrels~
There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel. ~Curtains~

I'm thrilled that Mary Poppins leads the noms. I'm hoping come TONYS that it is not snubbed. I still think other than Spring Awakening and Company. Its one of my favorite shows this season.

Sorry nom, but there were moments(just moments) where I found Dancy to be heavy as you describe Liev in Macbeth and Betrayal. I have seen Liev in 'Talk Radio' and I found his performance to be extremely nuanced, but I have not seen the performances you have eluded to. As I said earlier, Stanhope is the toughest role in the show and he does a great job, but in a category this year full of A+ performances, Dancy is giving an A-. He is an incredible actor none the less.

I know the OCC's are always a little out there, and I don't agree with all their choices, and I don't expect DD's or the Tony's to reflect any of this, but I can't help but be jumping with joy over Orfeh's nomination. She MORE than deserves it.

I agree with Ruprecht, I'll even go so far to say this will be many of the nominees only nomination particuarly D'Amboises'. I am thrilled for Orfeh as well - well done! Marry Poppins is the type of the musical all of the nominators will embrace, like ir or not, IMO.

Glad to see the LOVEMUSIK recognition and apparently they liked IN THE HEIGHTS but no nods for any of the leads. No Barbara Walsh or Heather Laws for Best Featured Actres?!?!? Oh well. At least Jason Danieley got some deserved recognition.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
I am surprised Laura Bell Bundy did not get a nod. I also did not think Charlotte d’Amboise was that great. I would put either Debra Monk or Heather Laws in her slot. And why no nomination for John Gallagher, Jr.?

Legally Blonde was snubbed. it should have gotten a ton more nominations. LBB and Jerry Mithchel for starters and the production itself is great. SPring Awakening should have gotten more acting nominations. Mary Poppins is a real joke i think. im not worried because the OCC usually dont match up with the actual Tony winners...or at least the nominations dont. RIchard Griffiths wasnt nominated last year...i mean hello!! Mary Poppins will not be as happy come tony nominations time...i guarantee it. I also expect LoveMusik not to be received well. i think since Cervais Murphy and Prince are involved, they gave it noms...however, i heard poor reviews from people walking out...Also, was Les Mis eligible?
...Please understand that it's still strange and frightning...
What a joke! NO HAL PRINCE! You can nominate an overproduced overhyped piece of Disney schlock but you can't nominate perhaps the greatest director of musicals that ever lived?
I agree. The OCC and Drama Desks don't match up with the Tonys regularly. Last year's Tony winning Best Leading Actress in a Play AND a Musical (Cynthia Nixon, LaChanze) were not even nominated for Drama Desks. The Tony Nominating Committee is in a league of their own.
