I wouldn't count Valisia out just yet. Her show is raking people in and is still OPEN. That could work in her favor.

So will chase gets nominated and Jim Norton does not.....unacceptable!
They were probably in different categories, as they were with the OBC for the Tonys. Rose won for leading actor, Howard McGillin was nominated for featured actor.

Cat On A Hot Tin Roof was shut out completely. No nomination for Cinderella's director, Mark Brokaw, either.

Can someone please explain how Pippin is eligible for these awards when it hasn't officially opened? How have these outer critics been able to see the show? Thanks.

Too bad there is not a category for Outstanding Torso. Sebastian Stan from Picnic and Billy Magnussen from Vanya and Sonia could fight it out.

Pippin is eligible because they invited the voters.

These don't follow the same rules as the Tony Awards. It's been playing for 3 weeks already -- so plenty of time for other groups to recognize.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

To answer Rumplestiltskin's question: If a show officially opens after the announcement of the Outer Critics Circle or Drama Desk's nominations, that show will usually put in the nominating committee of that organization a little earlier (during previews), so the show can make the deadline and be considered for the prizes.
This is how, for example, 'Pippin' can be up for 11 nominations, even though it hasn't officially opened yet. ...

I'm rather disappointed that Warlow wasn't nominated, since he was the best thing about ANNIE. I'm very glad for Letts and Morton. But then again, the OCC Awards are really quite bizarre. RIGHT! YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN did win a bunch one year.

And by a bunch, you mean 1. It tied with Xanadu for Best New Broadway Musical. It led with the most nominations, but it had only the one win.

The Matilda snubs are absurd when you look at what WAS nominated. Especially for score.
