The new Beautiful cover is anything but beautiful. They have had such fantastic playbill covers since day one. I hope this isn't permanent but, I can't see why they'd change the cover for a few weeks until they could use something of Abby on it.

Did Dolly ever have that pink playbill or was it a mistake?

I actually like the pink Hello Dolly. I can't decide if I prefer the red or not. Lol
Incidentally, I really hope Manhattan Theatre Club decides to go full hipster for Prince of Broadway and put a crown on Hal's head for the Playbill...or something...
the new little foxes one really bothers me with the floating heads and all. I think it would have been nicer to put the text on the plain feather background. It also really annoys me when shows out "the new musical" or something or the sort on playbill ( like Anastasia, bandstand, amelie). also amelie freaks me out bc it looks like her hand is floating in midair.
I guess this should technically be in the 2015-2016 Season thread, but I didn't want to dig up that old thread for this. Seems that Waitress will have a temporary Playbill for the week between JM and SB, and then go back to full color!
I'm so happy they're going back to color for Sara Bareilles' run in Waitress. Though I'm not sure why the pie is off to the side like that. I wasn't expecting an exact recreation of Jessie's cover but I miss the hinting about the plot.
The Bareilles artwork actually to my eye has a much more natural feel, the pie on Jessie's cover felt uncomfortably photo shopped, plus there was a kindof light effect going on.

(Spoilers Below)
Only seeing part of the pie makes perfect sense. For most of the performance, the pie isn't fully formed yet. It's only the last two scenes where it's done.
Hold up...I am a huge fan of Waitress (film and musical) and its themes, and I never saw the idea of "pies" as being some kind of metaphor for the plot. Did I overlook something?!
Meh I hated those to me they take away the aesthetic theater part of it with a fat thick bar of white I think the new style is much cleaner and professional
