The only change that I expect is the Kylie medley to a Madonna.
Sorry to disagree, I heard they are moving the story from Australia to Montana via Iceland.
I would be gobsmacked if they moved the setting from Australia to the US! If they did that, they might as well change the book, the music & the sets and call it 'To Wong Foo...'
They wont move it to America, what's the point?
Also yes changes are getting made but no need to really worry, the show went through changes between Australia and here in the UK
They can't possibly move the setting of the show away from Australia or the whole premise will fall apart. Also, they wouldn't have hired Tony Sheldon to lead the cast if they were going to re-set the whole show. He is on record as being adamant that it must keep close to the Australian original. It was initially toned down a little for London only to find that London audiences were even more up for the harder, rougher, tougher edges than in Oz.
Priscilla needs to be seen in all its glory. Yes the whole Kylie things might be swapped for Madonna but thats about all that should change.
To change the show dramatically would be to tear out its heart and then it definitely wouldn't work. Replicating the London production gives Broadway a wonderfully enjoyable musical theatre experience and I really hope Americsn audiences get it.

More details would be greatly appreciated, it's so hard to keep up with everything.
Some of the language used in the Oz production was more akin to the film. I don't know why they thought London audiences needed more delicacy. We are a hardy bunch.
OK all you Priscilla devoutees...but the 2007 cast album or wait for another?
DF
Theaterfan, I meant to imply that question in my question....more precisely, do you think there will be na BDWY recording or just the the 2007 cast?

Bringing in Madonna is a bad idea, remember how she sucked in SPEED THE PLOW?

I recently interviewed amazing wigmaker Richard Mawbey for http://www.ideastap.com, where I'm assistant editor. Outside of what he had to say for that video, which will be up soon, he told me about his recent engagement to work on Priscilla: http://bit.ly/aGdxh8

Hi guys....
I ve been lurking in the background since we saw Hair in London (where we live) twice and fell in love with the US cast.
On reading about Will Swenson going for Priscilla, we want to arrange our NY City trip around the plays we want to go to see....
Could you guys direct me to where to go to buy tickets in advance?
for Priscilla, I mean...
We want to go Chorus Line mainly because my daughter is studying Performing Arts and trying to see all musicals I have been in, and Chorus lIne was one major thing in my life...we also wanted to see REnt but I'm not sure they are in NY anymore?
I will post another thread to get a bit of help with the other plays, but if any of you could direct me to where to go to buy for Priscilla, that would allow us to have dates and book airplane tickets, which (at least in this country) go up the longer one leaves it to book
Thanks in advance! :)
Priscilla tickets aren't on sale as of yet.
A Chorus Line & Rent are both closed.

bummer
we almost made it 3 years ago, had everything, I had even spoken to the Chorus Line Theatre, and we had problems ended up travelling home instead (Brazil/Argentina)
I guess we should keep an eye on the tours then, we have lots of family spread in the US, so we may get lucky LOL
I ll keep an eye here then to know when the tickets go on sale, thanks so much!
and, as we are here... do you know what especifications you need to upload avatars here?
I tried uploading what I use in all my other forums and it either doesn't show or the bigger version wont upload?
I am so looking forward to this production to see what changes have been made. I was fortunate enough to see both the Australian & London productions. I must say I prefered the Australian production. There seemed to be a disconnect in London. I felt the cast did not gel as well as the Australian cast. That is just my feelings. It still was a fun and enjoyable show will tons of talent!
MrsPeel-The tour of a Chorus Line actually is coming to the NJPAC April 26th-May 1st. No idea where your family lives, but the NJPAC is a short train ride with switching to the light rail from the city, if you are planning on going to see Priscilla.
No idea where the Rent tour is going.

Hey Marianne thanks for the tip...
we have family in Boston, Baltimore & Texas, also in California but that would be a stretch too much....I mean, another trip alltogether ...but by NJ I take it is New Jersey, right? got some friends, could sort something out..main thing is my daughter's school hols, I was thinking about going in summer , either end of July or beginning of August...but maybe we ll be blessed with a fairy God mother and the Easter hols for schools here will fit those dates....will have a look, thanks SO much.... :)
Yes, NJ is New Jersey.
One of ths issues in London is the size of the stage which is considerably smaller than the stages that Priscilla played on in Australia. It does impact on some of the really big show numbers. Hopefully for Broadway, they can find a suitable theatre to rectify this.
That said, for me, the London production is a triumph. The location of London's Palace Theatre, right on the edge of Soho, perfect for Priscilla makes it a sacrifice worth making.
I believe there was some talk of doing a London recording but for some reason it never happened. Hopefully there'll be one for Broadway to go with the Original Cast Recording.
I can't wait for the Broadway production - is there any news on when in the spring it is likely to open?
