I think previews will start in late March.
It does impact on some of the really big show numbers. Hopefully for Broadway, they can find a suitable theatre to rectify this.
That Palace has a big ole stage.
Actually the Palace stage in London is not that big - narrower and less deep, certainly in comparison to the stages in Sydney and Melbourne where the show performed.
I'm referring to Broadway's Palace where the show is playing.
Oops, I see what you mean Well then it should work a treat. It is a show that benefits from the extra space
I don't know much about this show. But I can't help but think it will be a big flop here.
Maybe I'll be proved wrong though. I just don't see American audiences running out to see this. Similar to how American audiences didn't run out to see ENRON.

The movie's nowhere near as popular or well-known with American audiences who aren't gay. This show would do well as a cabaret or off-Broadway piece, but by no means is the target audience going to shell out $130 to see it.

I loved the show when I saw it in London, and I loved Enron when I saw it in NYC. And I am worried about how this will do too. Not that they have anything else in common besides coming from London, but still, it's just a nagging feeling.

@ TheatrePaul : the venue here in `London is certainly amazing...love driving into the West End when arriving at the junction, the Priscilla marquee is an absolute wonder :)
I ll haave to keep an eye here for the dates when tickets go on sale, do you guys have an aprox idea of when they will start?
Will mentioned spirng in interviews here, anyway we wont be able to travel until school hols start (which in this country, for some reasin start late) which will be end of July...
Havent been in New York City for over 25 years...really, really looking forward to this trip, and after what Marianne said, I ll have a look to see of we can do a week to catch the Chorus Line tour...would love for my daughter to be able to see it :)
Mrs Peel, I certainly agree. The London venue does look amazing. The show makes a statement of intent before you've even entered the theatre
Much as I love this show, and I really do, I too worry about its longevity on Broadway as some on this thread have commented on. When I first saw it in Australia, I thought a West End transfer was the obvious next step and it has worked, but I too think its hard to see it succeeding on Broadway though I really hope I'm wrong because it's a fabulous show ))
I will be there for the opening or soon after!
I think previews will start in late March.
Is that a guess Jordan, or an 'educated guess'? I'm sure I read previously that previews were pencilled in for February with an Opening in early March.
Hopefully they'll make an announcement soon so I can start making some plans - very excited to see H2$ and Catch Me If You Can among others if dates tally.
MrsPeel, I agree about the Palace Theatre in London - it's always been one of my favourite marquees and the Priscilla shoe looks amazing (especially at night).
Anyone got tickets to see the show in Toronto? I'm curious as to whether audiences there be more likely to mirror London or New York in their reactions...?
Toronto audiences, as of late, seem to be more receptive of West End shows (ie. Dirty Dancing, Sound of Music).

@ Theatrepaul: yup, totally agree, I can see the many differences that could make this show not so appealing for US audiences...well, lets see what happens...
I would love to see it in NY mainly because I would love the opportunity to see Will Swenson on stage once more.... as someone who was in the very first misce-en-scenes of Hair , I can say with all my heart that Swenson/Creel are the most amazing Berger/Claude I have seen, and I have seen a few in my (lots of years of) life... LOL
It would certainly be cheaper for me to go see it here, as I am registered disabled now and here (the UK) most theatres give me two for one or a very good discount....not sure I ll be able to get anything like that for New York...I know I called the Chorus Line theatre a couple of years ago and they said no....
I m glad I decided to register here and post though, loving the vibe here, I feel a bit like a fish out of waters in UK forums (no matter what the subject is) even after 20 years here,I think I talk too much for most British people LOL

Don't see it being the flop ENRON was for a couple reasons. 1) From my experience, musicals tend to sell better than plays, which Enron was. 2) Enron had a boring title and was not marketed well (hopefully the producers for this show will do a better marketing job. 3) Enron was a touchy, subject among most Americans and the timing was really bad here. My own opinion but I think Priscilla will do quite well here--just seeing the marquee/billboard alone makes me want to see this (doubled with the fact that it stars Will Swenson and Nick Adams). I also like going into a musical knowing the music..

Its not here in the UK either. The show did well here because the advertising for the show was huge, camp and colourful, that's what got audiences in.

99.999% of the people who will buy tickets to Priscilla couldn't care less that it "stars" Will Swenson and Nick Adams. Both are completely unknown to the general public and will have absolutely ZERO effect on the box office receipts. They're not stars by any means.

Apparently there was confusion. By putting that in parentheses, I mean that as a side note and one of the reasons I would see it--I was not talking about the general public. Although many avid Broadway fans do know who they are and are excited to see them (based on what I've heard or read).

you will find there are LOTs of us here in the Uk prepared to pay for a trip to New York to see Will Swenson...
I'd see it for Jessica Phillips, no matter how small her role might be. Won't lie about that. Will Swenson would be a bonus.

I nearly forgot about her! I wasn't planning on seeing it again (I saw it in London, and loved it, but still) but I definitely have to see her!
I think someone once said Jessica's character has about five minutes of stage time. Though I think she also may part of the ensemble.
I am so excited about seeing Tony Sheldon reprising his Bernadette on Broadway as he did in London and originally in Australia. He is the heart beat of the show and has had one hell of a journey with this production and deserves lots of success.
