re: PROMISES, PROMISES Starring Hayes and Chenoweth to Play Broadway Theatr

I saw "Promises Promises" early in the run in 1969 at the Shubert Theater (god it was great!!!!!) which has, if I'm not mistaken, about the same seating as The Neil Simon. Since the Simon was home to "Annie" and so many other great musicals when it was the Alvin, I think it would be great for promises (although I think the wing space is VERY limited. We were backstage during the run of Annie and boy, was it crowded.)

Tickets for Promises are already on sale. If they were to move to the Neil Simon, they'd be switching ticket providers from Telecharge to Ticketmaster. I could see them switching from one Telecharge house to another, but to completely change providers seems like a big inconvenience.

Telecharge is owned and operated by the Shubert Organization in conjuction with the Jujamcyn Organization, so switching from Telecharge to Ticketmaster is the same as switching from a Shubert or Jujamcyn house to a Nederlander house.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

iT WAS DESIGNED AS A MOVIE THEATER (tHE cOLONY) AND LET'S FACE IT, BEING CLOSE TO THE SCREEN WAS NEVER A PLUS.

wITH THE EXCEPTION OF eVITA (WHICH LOOKED GREAT IN THERE WHEN i SAW IT. tHE INTERIOR WAS BLUE-AND-WHITE LIKE rOYAL dALTON CHINA) THE PLACE HAS BASICALLY BEEN A VERY SUCCESSFUL TRANSFER HOUSE.

(Damn caps key. Sorry. Too lazy to fix on New Years Day)

Happy New Year.

My God, I am getting forgetful. The theater has one more important piece of history:

I saw my first show on Broadway there. Gypsy in 1961. The show had transferred from the Imperial. (I thought I saw it at the Imperial but we have programs from The Broadway. So much for memory.)
