Panic! at the Disco to pen a musical?

I said that when they made American Idiot into a musical.

I'm gonna get smashed for this, I'm sure, but The Black Parade > American Idiot (my very strong opinion.) Would pay good $$$ to see that (done well) on Broadway.

That said.... I always thought PatD were very theatrical. But this is a "new" PatD, with only two of the original members. Am curious though....

"Even I think that's hot, and I'm a straight guy. If I ever become gay he is the reason." - Drunk Chita Rivera on Gavin Creel

"Leia947 is my theatre mamma, and I love her for it." - AndAllThatJazz22

It doesn't need to be on Broadway. Nor does anything by P!ATD. I guess the Men of Abba first convinced Elton John that Broadway is a cash cow and you just have to sit back and let the money roll in, but it hasn't panned out that way for Bono/Edge or Phil Collins or Brian Wilson or The Estate of John Lennon. Nor would it for Gerard Way.

Namo, what exactly don't you like? Rock musicals? Musicals by rock stars? Or just non-pedigreed composers writing in a non "modern-theatrical-music" style?

Your gripe is kind of nebulous, and I'm curious, not snarky.

I love good rock musicals. It just so happens that they are generally created by theater artists working in the rock vernacular and not rock artists working in the musical vernacular.

Amen, Namo. Just because a rocker wants to write a musical and suck that golden teat, doesn't mean they should. Paying attention, Bono?

*sigh*

For the next 10 years we will have every once popular band flopping thei way to Broadway... If Greenday couldn't make a show recoup why do even lesser known emo bands think they can?
