I'm shocked! I don't know the show too well...but isn't this a small-to-medium featured part? "There are no small parts, only small actors."

Oklahoma did very well.
High School Musical broke records and is their most successful production (financially) EVER.
The plays didn't make money, they never do.
1776 has an incredibly stellar cast.
Full Monty now has Stritch.

It's a quintessential featured role. One big song, and a lot of funny dialogue. Kathleen Freeman, who has since passed, should have won a Tony for this role. Cady Huffman got to ride the coattails of a Producers sweep that night.

I had always thought when I listened to the cast album that Stritch would do a great job with "Jeanette's Showbiz Number"

I agree about Kathleen Freeman being overlooked for Best Supporting Actress in the wave of enthusiasm for The Producers. Frankly, although I enjoyed The Producers, I think The Full Monty was robbed -- especially for original score. It was the hands-on winner in most categories until The Producers came along. And while I'm going to be shot at dawn for saying this, The Producers was an enjoyable show -- but not one of the great ones (IMO). Somehow, I don't see there being a crying need for a revival of it down the line. IMO.

Visiting the family and seeing this are a must this summer.

The last time I saw The Fully Monty was a few years ago at Ogunquit with Sally Struthers as Jeannette...so count me in as going to New Jersey to see Paper Mill's production.

He was!
My friend and I sat in the first row and he was mostly on our side of the stage. His rendition of "Breeze Off The River" was one of the highlights of the show. (And made up for the fact that I missed seeing him in the Little Shop revival).
Although, I love me some Patrick Wilson too.
