#1People's Careers on here?
Posted: 6/16/11 at 5:06pmI was wondering what does everyone do for a living on here? (student, retired, working etc....) Does anyone work in the theatre?

I'm a screenwriter / director who's currently working on a stage musical. If my professional title gets any longer business cards will be out of the question.
I'll be interested to see if others pipe in. It was only recently that I realized I'm an old fart on this board at the age of 44.

I'm a copy editor at a travel magazine in NYC.
Yes, I spend all day correcting other people's bad punctuation, misspellings, bad grammar, and other crimes against humanity.
I know, I KNOW.

Posted: 6/16/11 at 5:22pmLOL. Jordan, this is actually my first time being a full-time copy editor, though I've held various other journalism positions before. I've only previously been a copy editor as a fill-in, as a small part of my actual job, or as a volunteer. :) Or on the BWW boards...

When I first joined BWW back in the dark ages, I was an undergraduate theater student. I have since gone on to get my MFA and I work pretty regularly at small and mid-sized theaters in and around Chicago.
I grew up in the NYC suburbs going to Broadway shows. I still go back about once or twice a year. In fact, I'm seeing Book of Mormon on Saturday and Master Class on Sunday!

I'm recent college grad w/ a BFA in Directing for the Stage. I'm a director, choreographer, dancer, and stage manager.
But real estate and tending bar is what pretty much pays the bills! I like nice things.... I cant survive on a "theater persons" salary.
