@ jaxel614: I sat row B in the mezz and absolutely loved it from those seats. I had never seen the show from that perspective (anything but orchestra) before and I wasn't sure how I'd like it, but it was GREAT. In fact, I think the impact of the lighting and set even comes across a litte more powerfully when you look at it more straight-on, as you will from your mezzanine seats.
I'm debating if I should take off from my classes and head into the city to go to the signing. What time do you usually have to get there by to get a good spot for the performance?
It depends on what/who it is and who is available and stuff. Last summer for Christiane Noll's performance/signing, there were still seats available when she started. For other events people have been left waiting outside or turned away.
I was there yesterday for some book shopping and asked if it would be a wrist-banded event and the woman I spoke with said that they've really only done that once (for Liza), so she didn't think so, but to check back closer to the event. I'm going to call on Monday and just find out for sure. I'll let you know.

Does anyone know if they're planning to sell 'Next to Normal' magnets? When I was at the show, they didn't have them and as a collector, I was really disappointed they didn't have one. Anybody know?
I also saw the mat yesterday. WOW. I was very pleasantly surprised with the energy of the crowd and cast, and the theatre was absolutely packed! Loved the updates to the doors with the comments and the "Tony nominated" stickers. :)
Wish I'd seen this thread earlier. I have 2 tix for tonight (Sunday)'s 7:30 show. $35 each. They're C in the Mezz (so I think are like $111 face value, but I got them deeply discounted and can't go so I'm just trying to recoup). E-me if you are interested in meeting soon to buy them. Thanks!
Is anyone who is going to the signing tomorrow taping the performance(if your even allowed to)? Im so mad because my plans changed for the person I was going to go with. Im trying to find someone else but its not looking to good! I hope videos pop up on youtube or something!
If I get there at like 4:45-5:00 will I be too late for the signing? I have a job interview and that's when I'll be able to get there Updated On: 5/11/09 at 08:47 PM
Don't ask me why, but I just got the craziest idea: Julia Murney as Diana. I would love to see that... I love Alice though :]

I think Murney might still be a few years too young, based on the timeline offered in the show. In about 5 years, though, that might be a great suggestion, if she can control her raging vibrato.
Energy was lacking in the first act to me but it made the show much more intense and intimate, oddly enough. And it worked...it made the characters more real, worn, and tired.
The cast was as good as they usually are but J. Robert Spencer REALLY has stepped up his game. He went from giving a boring, stoic performance at the first preview (albiet strong enough) to the performance he is giving now and it's quite the transformation. Tonight, he screamed the "Diana, there's nothing there" line during the I'M ALIVE REPRISE and something about it sent chills down my spine...that single moment and his brilliant acting choices in HOW COULD I EVER FORGET? really made his character something I had never even thought it could be before. He is truly giving a great, great performance.
Theater was about 80% full I'd say...odd audience reactions but a standing ovation immediately after the last chord of LIGHT. The show was definitely not sold out for Tuesday's performance though because I almost snagged three tickets through Telecharge like an hour before curtain and they were great seats too...and when I hit 'see next best location,' more seats came up.
As I sat through the second act tonight, something just kinda clicked and I literally had the thought "this is great theater." And it is. NEXT TO NORMAL is just great theater. And it's a shame it probably won't be able to play past the winter...but stranger things have happened on Broadway.
I have a bunch of tickets to see it in the coming weeks and will be at the Tonys cheering it on and for the years I have followed it's development, I couldn't be more amazed at what has been the final product and what happens inside the Booth Theater eight times a week. And, cliche as it sounds, N2N touching someone's heart the way it has with me is better than any profit the show could obtain. They are affecting lives with this show and that is the sign of good theater, not how much money it makes but how much of an impact it makes. And N2N makes a big one.
Rocks, it's possible they have a certain number of seats set aside for Tony voters that are released if not taken by a certain time. I was merely going by what the box office told the guy running the rush line.
And the theatre DID look full, so those seats were probably snapped up.
