Hi everyone!! I haven't been on this board in a while...but I am reviving my participation because of my AMAZING LOVE OF NEXT TO NORMAL. I go to school just outside of the city and I'm dragging my friend in this weekend to try rush. Question...I didn't look through the entire thread cause its 26 pages, but what are the TDF dates exactly? I love this show!!!!!
Seeing the show on Sunday, May 24th matinee on the aisle in orch center BB! Super excited but nervous that some cast members may be out for the Memorial Day weekend...anyone know of any planned absences/vacations for any cast members? Particularly the main 4 family members? Thanks in advance!
With Tony voters coming 'round, I wouldn't think anyone would be planning vacations until after June 6. But you never know, I suppose.
And I paid $39.50 after the fee when I got my ticket on TDF in April. Sat Row D in the Mezz in a seat that at full price is ~$111. Perfect view.
For the NYC membership it's $27.50 a year (got the reminder to renew mine, so that how I know right now :), though when I joined last year, I joined via a friend and got a $5 discount. Students qualify for membership.
I was walking down 47th Street today and I looked up to Alice Ripley's eyes staring at me. Where the old PHANTOM sign used to be (and I think it was RENT too at one point) across the street from the Palace Theater stage door up on that building is now a giant NEXT TO NORMAL poster with Brantley's quote on it!
Just got home from my first time seeing this show and all I can say at this point is WOW!! We went with another couple and we talked about the show all the way home. Can't remember the last time that happened. It was refreshing to see something truly original. The performances were amazing. Was impressed with Jen Damiano. Looking forward to taking my daughter next week.
N2N was packed this afternoon! At first, I was impressed when the line to get in went past the Impressionism theater. Then, it extended to the God of Carnage theater. And, there was another long line the other way toward Juniors. The show actually started about 5 minutes later than usual just because they were still letting people in! The Tony nominations do seem to be helping. I hope it lasts.
Of course, the show was amazing and the audience was possibly the best I have experienced so far. Such enthusiasm and applause where there usually aren't any (i.e. After Diana says "Now go to your dance" and after Hey #3/Perfect for You).
I'm so glad that this show is getting noticed by audience members and the critics. It is such a unique show, with a wonderful cast and excellent music. Alice Ripley simply shines in this show and I was so excited to see that she and the rest of the show were nominated for Tony Awards this year. I simply can't get enough of this cast recording.
I hear ya !!! I so wish they made it later, but tough on Tues with a 7PM show (basically, impossible)- Seeing the show that night, so will try and get there for 4.
