While I can't really see Julia Murney in the role, I think Jessica Molaskey would be absolutely stunning as Diana.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
Question: do you, the fans, feel that there will be tickets available for N2N via TDF or TKTS for July 2nd given the rising popularity of the show and the pending Tony awards? Just wondering if I can afford to wait or if I should bit the bullet and get tickets before being in NYC. Thoughts? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Brantley just posted an article about the great shows that closed this season and says the following about NEXT TO NORMAL:
"Where the theater ? as a live art in the present tense ? beats out its narrative brethren is in its ability to elicit undiluted, instinctive emotion from those who watch it, together and alone in a crowd. The best new musical of the season, Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey?s ?Next to Normal,? is an uncompromising portrait of the pain felt and caused by a bipolar suburban mother (played brilliantly by Alice Ripley) who is being treated with medications that numb her beyond caring. ?Give me pain if that?s what?s real,? she sings. ?It?s the price we pay to feel.? After years of self-induced anesthesia, Broadway has remembered that feeling, in heightened ways real life only occasionally affords, is what theater is about."
We'll be seeing "THE BEST NEW MUSICAL OF THE SEASON"- Ben Brantley, The NY Times on a lot of the ads methinks!
I'm assuming most of you own the cast recording already, but Amazon has it available for download for only $8.99. I've been meaning to get it for a while, so I'm definitely gonna have to buy it now!
Amazon downloads work on iPods, and I'm assuming on most other MP3 players as well.
Didnt get a chance to post last night, but the show was amazing !! Was in the Mezz, and did not see one single empty seat !!! Crowd was so into it !! Little treat before the show-- Cheyenne Jackson doing a video/photo shoot right near the theatre--- must have been there around 30-45 minutes.
I really think "word-of-mouth" has made a big impact, and the show is picking up steam at just the right time !!!
As I posted in the Broadway Celebrity thread, Neil Patrick Harris was also at the show last night, and was the first one on his feet at curtain call. :)
Ahhh, rocks, you were at the show last night too? I bumped into Idina and NPH at intermission. Well, not literally, but I passed very close to them and then, admittedly, fangirled slightly.
Why do I always miss all the good people? I was there Sunday night and had David Hyde Pierce and a couple of Spring Awakening kids (Phoebe Strole and Jonathan B. Wright). Oh, and I had that Catwoman one night.
Other than opening night, I've never had anyone really good.
I would have fangirled a little over Jon B Wright. He's delicious.
Kevin Bacon was there when I saw it. (Didn't see Kyra though.)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

dramamama ~ April 18th? He was there for the first act. Hal Prince that night as well. (If it was another time, I HOPE Kevin was able to see the whole thing and not have to leave because of people harassing him during intermission!)

LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!
What's the rush update? I'll be in the city in a week and I was thinking I will get in line around 8 AM. Do you guys think I will be able to get tickets that way? I know it varies depending on the day, but I was just trying to get a general idea.
I bought the cast recording off iTunes last week and I CAN'T stop listening to it! I absolutely love it and am beyond excited to see Aaron, Alice, and the rest of the cast!!!!
Question guys/gals... Generally, how have the Sunday matinee crowds been? I tend to stay away from matinees as much as possible, because too many times the audience is too ... lets just say, "calm".. (nice way of putting it)
I was at the matinee this past Sunday and the audience was quite calm... especially in Act 1. The applause were not as enthusiastic as I am used to and there was very little laughing at the funny parts. The audience energy picked up in Act 2. Of course, even without the best audience, the show was still amazing!
"From what I've been hearing as of late, 8am will probably get you a seat, but most likely not front row center."
Ick, really? That's what time I was planning to get there. Do you still have a decent chance at front row if you get there around 8? I'm hoping to rush on Friday but I am SO not a morning person.
Just out of curiosity, how many tickets do they hand out?
