Would NBC poach one of the teen disney stars, or ware they exclusive to ABC? I could see them getting that little blonde from Austin and Ally if they were looking for teens with a fan base (albeit young fan base)

Not a bad marketing strategy. People might tune in just to see who it is (cast known actors in the supporting roles and reveal the actor playing Peter during the broadcast...). I dunno. That could work well. (It doesn't lend itself to a second broadcast so much because the anticipation will be gone, but it's really a great idea for a one-off.)

The web-page has been up for quiet sometime now. I love the logo.
A reply to that person who said I want Andy Meintus to play Peter. Actually I don't, just trying to guess. All I really want is a gorgeous presentation just like The Sound of Music.

I have a hard time believing they'll be able to cast a true A (or even B+) list star in the title role. What agent in his/her right mind is going to tell his young client "Oh, you're red hot right now, but what you really need to do is put on some green tights and "fly" around a sound stage with whimsy"??

Anyone who is smart? Huge exposure, millions of people watching you, and a strong possibility for booking more high profile jobs. It's not a bad gig considering how successful The Sound of Music was.

Sutton, it's huge exposure, but also huge pressure. Carrie Underwood was slammed with negative press after the broadcast. And fair or not, there will be concerns from some Hollywood agents about whether the role will make the actor appear effeminate.

On a different note, when I saw that Chris Colder tweet earlier about leaving Glee, I thought we had found our Peter. As it turns out, that tweet wasn't real. The wait continues.

Well the could always make the role more "manly" and "cool" to attract those audiences. instead of the costume looking like Mary Martin's, it could look like Kurt's Peter Pan costume from Glee. That costume did not look very feminine to me. Also, they could lower the keys, and add more stunts, flips, and tricks for Peter.
End the end, it comes down to the director's interpretation, and how the actor plays off of it.

One thing that I enjoyed about The Sound of Music Live is how faithful they were to the original script. That was something that I applaud, no cuts. no changes.
If the same is going to happen to Peter Pan, I do believe that the casting director
is going to have a hard time getting a superstar for the role. There are really
some high notes in there and a teenager with a broken voice will definitely not
deliver the right keys.
I think that now its a matter of wait.

I haven't heard on casting but I do know they are talking of adding a live audience to ease the awkwardness they experiences during SOM.

I do believe an audience will make these type of shows loose they're charm. In an interview the producers did say they had no intention of doing that and I hope it
stays that way.

I completely agree, it's a huge project. Carrie was slammed, but then she went back to her very successful singing career. If they do hire someone unknown, then it turns out to be a huge bust, they would be done. I don't know much about the musical Peter Pan, but perhaps they will make him less effeminate to appeal to the Bible Belt crowd.

I am far less exited about this than SOM.

Carrie was slammed by critics who simply made the movie on a pedestal.
I myself enjoyed The Sound of Music immensely and since its DVD release I kept
watching it regularly. It was such a beautiful presentation.
When Peter Pan was announced I did have a feeling that it won't get people excited
as Sound of Music did. But personally when I sat down and watched the Cathy Rigby
version I began to fall in love with the piece. With the way things are going, yes
I do have a feeling there will drop in the rate of viewers. Fingers crossed, I do hope I am wrong as Live Musicals on Television is something I enjoy as Live Theatre.

Yes, I saved SOM on my DVR and watch it occasionally. It's very entertaining although the Captain was very miscast

I hope this trend of live musicals on television continues for years.
