Any word on if or where/when set pieces and old props would be sold or auctioned?

No. If anything comes up I'm guessing it will be for auction at the BCEFA Flea Market, or it will be smaller things at the Phantom table. Patience y'all. Not many people on this board seem to have that. Give it time.

When are we allowed to ask about the plan for set pieces and props and show patience by asking? A week before the show closes? A month? Please let us know. Thanks!

Safe to say that if anything will be made for sale to the public, there will be a large public announcement about it to drive up excitement and sales. Just keep your eye on the news about the show, as you probably already are if you're fan enough to hope to acquire something.
In other words: it's unlikely they will be sold to the public through a secret need-to-know basis. :)
I question how much of it will be sold at all - CamMack has a huge warehouse where most shows' sets, props, costumes, etc. are kept.

I haven’t been to the Museum of Broadway yet but I would hope that several items from the broadway production end up there. I would think that’s what a “museum” would be most useful for - showing “ancient artifacts” from Broadway’s past. Lol.

You would assume that to be the case but, as many have sadly discovered, the Broadway Museum is simply a pop-up style photo op/social media property. Our vision of the type of museum we’d love to see representing Broadway is one sadly not shared by the curators of this “Broadway Museum.”

That's fascinating!! I wonder how far back the pieces go...like from which productions and years.
I see several pieces being auctioned as Lots 667-700 on Flea Market day.

Thank you Jsquared for answering my question. We will stop asking!

To the best of my knowledge as colleagues of mine once planned a trip to visit it for professional reasons, it is everything from all his shows that hasn't been repurposed into other productions, sold at a BC/EFA auction, or otherwise rehomed. AKA it's a lot.

I've seen that comment a few times, which is disappointing. Someone posted a picture of the Phantom section, and it looked cool! They're offering BOGO tickets for Broadway/Restaurant/Everything Week so that might be the best opportunity to see it for (relatively) cheap.
After “Sunset” closed in ‘97 I purchased a few pieces of the set via https://www.usa829.org all the $ went to bc/efa might wanna check there after closing.
This past September I recall the replica monkey with cymbal statue signed by ALW auctioned off for over $10k!
