"However, it's confirmed that rehearsals will take place in London prior to an out-of-town tryout, probably in Toronto, before opening on Broadway."

This seems like an awful lot of moving around for the cast. I wonder if they'll be rehearsing all three productions together in London.

The only thing that might save this show is that Jack O'Brien is directing it.

I want to see what Jerry Mitchell does with it. He isn't my first choice, but he could surprise all of us.

I have to agree. I am starting to love the idea of this show.
Sometimes things can get so ridiculous and out of hand you know it's going to be fun. Yes, I can't wait to see it.

Now, if they can only cast Rip Taylor as Phantom.
"What, I have a kid! Holy Mackerel!" And then he dumps a bag of confetti on Christine.

If all three shows are rehearsing and opening at the same time, where is the director and the choreographer?
Are they gonna stage this over a cell phone?
And if they change something in one show do they all change?
This is Madness!

The strategy here seems to be to sign on so many famous, reliable names from Broadway and the West End that even those who are certain this will be a train wreck (are any of us...not?) will at least be curious enough about the talent involved to splurge on a ticket. I was going to avoid this like the plague, but now I'm finding it harder and harder to resist.

Alas, even if the director, set designer, and choreographer all kick it into high gear for this production, even if Lloyd Webber turns in a decent score and the book isn't overly simplified and riddled with plot holes, I just can't see any sequel to "Phantom"--which I admit is one of my all-time favorite shows--having that intangible sense of enchantment (for lack of a better word) that keeps people going back to the original. The ending of the original production is where the bulk of its emotional weight lies...to add onto that ending will be cheap and unnecessary.

And God bless Bob Crowley, but no "Phantom" story set in Coney Island is ever going to top the Gothic, muddy darkness of Maria Bjornson's Paris Opera House.

"If there is going to be a restoration fee, there should also be a Renaissance fee, a Middle Ages fee and a Dark Ages fee. Someone must have men in the back room making up names, euphemisms for profit." (Emanuel Azenberg)

Interesting that Hal Prince wasn't asked to direct. Or he was and he said "HELL NO!"

Not long ago I got into a pretty decent arguement with people who thought this was going to be a hit just because of ALW's name is attached to it. I tried explaining to them how it really was but it was like trying to explain to a child that Santa doesn't exist.

Hmm....Link's music career is quickly ended when he has a horrific accident and is facially scarred. Tracy tries to stand by him but he spurns her love because he feels he is "unlovable" now. He takes up residence in the former Corny Collins studio while Tracy forms a folk trio with Seaweed and Penny. Their albums go platinum and they're internationally famous.

Jealous of their success and unable to deny his love for Tracy anymore Link kidnaps her when the trio play a benefit concert at his "home".

What a pointless thread. I highly doubt the choreographer of this show will either make or break it. Please.

I was kind of imagining Erik dancing to "What You Want" in a marching band costume.
