it's weird, christine age 17, raoul age 29, hello how could they be childhood friends, and then a 33 year old phantom falls for christine??
i know in the film these arent the ages they portray, i just hope it doesnt come across that way. :)

I can't believe we waited that long for them to tell us what we already know. I'm kina Pro-Movie so I can't wait. Emmy sounds great, and even if she's not she gets props for trying.
Don't care about Gerard I honestly am a Raoul lover. The end.

September shooting? That means a late 2004 or 2005 release date? That's still pretty far away.
I really hope they do a good job with it. A lot of people are looking forward to it.

Yes, let us hope that the director, (what is his name again? Roman Polanski?) stays happy with his choice of cast.

To DofB85:
Joel Schumacher is supposed to direct.
p.s. adding on to my previous reply...I'm happy with the casting. I think Emmy will do an awesome job and so will the rest. She defianately looks the part.

I agree that Emmy does look the part but I am still personally confused (and a bit scared) by the age differences. I've always believed "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" but I will go see the movie just the same.

Well, from what I've read, they're not doing the musical we all know, there's too many changes happening. We've been waiting for almost 15 years for this movie, and back then we were promised that Michael would be preserved in that performance and now it's someone I don't even know..(Dracula 2000??) And now they're talking sword fights and things...

Posted: 6/21/03 at 6:54pm15 years is a long time. If they considered Crawford a decade and a half ago, of course they wouldn't consider him now. As for sword fighting, it is in the book. It is still true to Phantom. Geez, get a grip. YOU don't have to know the actor before the operormance. They aren't making the movie just FOR you. GET A GRIP!

Posted: 6/21/03 at 7:49pmI'm a little skeptical for this movie.

Posted: 6/21/03 at 8:01pmI recently saw the pics of Emmy. I think she's absolutely gorgeous! I think she'll make a great christine too.

Hmmm. I fail to see why wanting to see something a certain way means I don't have a grip. I didn't see the book on Broadway, I saw the musical. It was my understanding they were doing the musical. And if we're talking about being true to the book, just how old did you think the Phantom was? He's way over 50, he certainly isn't a young man in his 20's. So you can't have it both ways.
I was merely posting my opinion on the matter. I'm not planning to go hang myself because they're not using Crawford, I just wish they were. I don't really care about the stupid movie except in conversation and about what I would've liked to see.
I think it is you who needs to get a grip.

Make-up does do wonders.
And the Phantom would obiously be wearing a mask so I don't think age really matters.

God...Emmy...you better be able to sing opera again. Just because she sang when she was 12 they think she's still good. *sigh* I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Seriously hun, please do us justice. I want to love you in thr role, not hate you.
~MlleDaae *Oh...and...the twang...lose it in the movie. Thanks

You will all be mesmerized by Patrick Wilson. Trust me, he'll be the best thing about this show.

Dear God, tell me he's not going to put nipples on the Phantom's tux! Or that the lair will be done in neon instead of candle light.

Posted: 6/22/03 at 7:38pmEmmy I think will be a wonderful singer. I think that just because people hate the idea of the movie so much that it's just going to be amazing. There's another 3 billion in ALW's retirement fund too.
#23re: re: re: re: Phantom of the Opera!!!!
Posted: 6/22/03 at 7:46pmI am really excited about this movie. I don't think we should worry about casting and singing. I'm sure they'll all do a great job. Hey, everyone was way skeptical about whether or not Renee Zellwegger or Richard Gere could pull it off, but they blew everyone away, and the movie was loved. I think Phantom will be the same.
