I've been looking for discounted Phantom tix, and came across this article:
Phantom tickets starting at $29
Every single date and seat I see has no ticket cheaper than $45 - for the last 2 rows of the rear Mezzanine. Is this a misprint or just 'click bait'???

I've noticed this too, it seems like they have probably a very limited number of seats for $29 that sell out quickly. Still it's very misleading to keep advertising this when there is almost never a time when those tickets are available. It's not like Phantom needs extra marketing either so I've always been confused on why they would have this.

From what I remember, as long as that ticket price was at one point available for a given performance, they are in the clear to advertise as such. There probably were $23 tickets, but they may have already been sold.

It's pretty shady, to be honest. I checked dates as far out as the discount goes, and saw nothing for that price.

So in theory, a show could sell a single $1 in the very back of the theater for a single night with ever new block of tickets and be able to blaster "$1 ticket available" on their advertising? Sounds like an episode of "Nathan For You"

This does happen in other industries, for example Megabus always advertises their $1 seats, which does exist and in limited quantity, just to entice people to buy.

This is correct. Phantom does sell 29 dollar tickets for the last couple of rows of the mezz. Therefor, they aren’t pulling the wool over anyone’s eyes as it were. There’s a world of difference if they said that they sell 29 dollar tickets but actually don’t. Verses, say, them selling tickets at that rate but, due to limited availability they go fast. The ladder is what’s going on here and no one is being scammed or duped over anything.

The tickets for the last 2 rows of the mezz are all $45. I checked for many MANY dates.

The $29 seats are only for performances Mon-Thu rear SIDE mezzanine (last 2 rows.) I checked several dates from telechargeoffers and that section is completely sold out.
If you check the seating chart tab and then click on Rear Mezzanine, hover on the rear side mezz and you'll see that the price range for those seats are $29-$89.

I spoke too soon. Check Wednesday Sept 25th evening performance. I see 2 seats in rear side mezz at $29 each. HURRY!

I think the $25 ones are also seasonal, and go up in the summer

Hotels and airlines do this all the time. They steeply discount a small handful of rooms or seats, on just a few dates, and advertise that rate to drive traffic. Most customers never find a room/seat at the advertised rate.

No, the only time they go up is on the weekends. But, then again, Phantom is far from the only show that ups it’s lower priced tickets for weekend performances.
ETA: I believe, though could be mistaken that the 29 dollar tickets get bumped up to 49 on weekends.
