Dear BWW - Please create a separate board for Hamilton. THE phenomena is taking up all the space on the Broadway board, and IMHO it is frustrating to see every other show crowded off the board by all the new posts for this one show. People are obviously excited about Hamilton .. why not give them their playground and let the rest of us read about some other shows? I saw Hamilton, I liked it, I'd like to move on.

IMHO it is frustrating to see every other show crowded off the board by all the new posts for this one show.

You realize that's exactly what you did yourself in creating this thread. These things happen when a runaway hit explodes on Broadway. It'll eventually die down. It has before and it will again. If you want more threads about other topics, then start them. Many of the Hamilton threads are a question that drops off the first page pretty quickly. Perhaps your Hamilton thread will as well. If not, you click on other pages, or do a search, and reply to another topic and it will get bumped back up again. But asking the site to create something special because you didn't like the show as much as others and would like to "move on" is far more ridiculous than the appearance of a large amount of discussions based on the most popular show to hit Broadway in decades. That's just common sense.

Because it's a Broadway show being discussed on the Broadway board. When Wicked opened it was just as bad, but imagine most of the discussions being posted by pre-teens. Well, they weren't really discussions. Mostly gushing and gossip until the Tonys and then a lot of backlash because it was more cool to hate the show and blah blah blah. This Hamilton thing is a BREEZE by comparison.

No Gaveston but these cry babies don't know the art of ignoring a thread or just scrolling by what does not interest them.

Theyd rather have the Hamilton threads all relegated to a separate board because they can't deal with the show's success and popularity staring them in the face every single day.

It must be a miserable experience being a Hamilton hater.

Please don't. This is getting ridiculous. There is more than enough discussion of that show already on this board.

There was a kerfuffle earlier with a few posters and the blow up of the board was just in response to that...things will be back to normal soon. Then there will only be 20% of the threads devoted to Ham on the front page.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Wow! The vitriol. It's like Donald Trump and his cousins came to the board. I'm glad to hear that there was a similar frenzy for Wicked and it died down, but Hamilton is putting up another 6 productions so I imagine the rage will go on for quite a while. So how about this? Let this be the thread where all the folks who are over it can express themselves. And all the Hamil-maniacs & people who get unreasonably angry when someone expresses something other than undying love for Hamilton can post in the 1,000 other threads?

I haven't seen the show and probably won't until my local high school does it; but I just don't see the problem.

It's a huge, popular and critical hit. I expect other posters to talk about it.

Oh, good Lord. Who's "unreasonably angry"? What do you consider "unreasonable"? Are you talking about something that occurred in this thread? Because I didn't see anyone being demonized simply for not expressing undying love for Hamilton. I will say that does seem to be a popular histrionic meme for the countless posts by those who engage in conversations and create threads for topics they don't want to discuss. And yet, that's somehow not "unreasonable"? That's sort of...the definition of "unreasonable". Just like saying the Broadway board should not discuss the hottest show on Broadway.

It reminds me of that guy who kept talking about how he (and anyone else) was ravaged and destroyed by Fun Home fans for any opinion that didn't gush over the show. Out of curiosity, I did some research and what he detailed was not how it played out at all. Nobody criticized him for his opinion (or lack thereof, as he admitted hadn't even seen the show and was asking others for THEIR opinions) just as no one is criticizing anyone here for not liking Hamilton.

Perhaps there should be a separate board for people who want to whine about the number of Hamilton threads. How would you feel about that suggestion?

In the original poster's defense, there are at this moment 26 threads devoted to Hamilton on the first page of this board alone. Seems a bit like overkill to me, but I'm happy to scroll right by them or ignore them.

The reason there are currently a ton of Hamilton topics on the front page is because someone else started a thread like this called something like 'There are 12 threads about Hamilton on the front page' (that got deleted) and so people decided to bump all threads about Hamilton to the front page in retaliation as a joke. It will go back to Hamilton being 1/5th of the threads on the front page soon. I don't think that is an unreasonable amount for the most hyped musical in 20 years.

I'm sorry for everyone that doesn't like Hamilton that has to put up with this hype. I'm not a Beyonce fan and I hate it when she releases something and it's all I see for months. But no one has the right to tell someone what they can and can't talk about. If it relates to Broadway - and Hamilton does - then it belongs on this board. Start as many topics as you want about other shows, but don't blame anyone else if they don't end up being as replied to as the Hamilton threads. The reason why there is so many threads and that they're so active is because people want to discuss it. It's an absolutely thrilling time for fans of the show and everyone should stop being such a party pooper. It will die down eventually. Let us have our fun.

At first I thought this was unnecessary... But after scrolling down the front page of the forum, I have to admit it's not a bad idea. I haven't done the math but it looks like 75-80 % Hamilton. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
