Kate Shindle in the Legally Blonde remix....
I die everytime.
I'm not commenting on the stage show, because personally I don't think Legally Blonde should have been translated to the stage, because it's Legally Blonde. But I do love the score.

See, I actually don't understand it at all either. It's not my type of show.
But it's so damn catchy.

I liked it when I first heard it. Clearly the British crowd loved it. I like some parts of the remix. I don't like the whole "She's leading a parade!" and Irish sequences in the song.
Anyway, I wouldn't say I'm obsessed, and I would never admit I liked the score in public. It's not the most intellectually satisfying show out there. However, it does have some themes of self-confidence and what not, which I would count as a good trait of the show.

If you like the score then is that not reason enough for them to put it on the stage? Its like you dont want to admit you like the show because of the theatre snobs on here will point at you.
Like the show, admit it its fine, the show has done huge here in the UK (winning stacks of awards), theough audiences here do seem to be up for having more fun at the theatre and just letting their hair down.
The show is silly, camp, fluffy and sweet, the main thing is though as all the UK critics pointed out and many of the NY ones, it does it very welll.

LOL And thats what im talking about. Why can't you like the show in 'public'? is it because its not Sondhiem?
And why does it have to be intellectually satisfying? i didnt realise theatre had stopped being about entertainment and had turned in to a think tank.

I brought a group of 50 8th graders to see it with the original cast. Honestly, I thought I was going to hate it...but I had a really good time. I won't go out of my way to see it again, but it was energetic, fun fluff. I even sing along when my children put the cd in on a car ride.

I think a lot of the score is very good- the opening number, Positive, What You Want, So Much Better, and both variations of the title song are fun, bouncy, numbers. There are, of course, some real clunkers like Ireland and that Blood in the Water song.
The show has its moments and was a lot of fun to see. I would have thought it would have been a bigger hit than it was because of the demographic it was selling too, but it didn't. It seems like the kind of show that will have
a loooooong, prosperous life at community theaters and schools.
I would never call the show brilliant or profound, but it was a great deal of fun.

The plot made absolutely no sense, but the show and the OBCR are one of my very guilty pleasures. Very catchy songs that always make me grin out loud (as compared to the laughing out loud that Book of Mormon's songs inspire).
The one thing that pulls me out of my willing suspension of disbelief is Callahan's revelation in the second act of why he put Elle on internship list. It totally undermines So Much Better for me.

I listen to the songs a lot on my mp3 player, they are fun and catchy. But the book is so terrible and full of holes that it hurts my head. And this is coming from someone who LOVED that movie. In fact, I'm pretty sure I have a love/hate relationship with the musical because the person who wrote the book pretty much insults the movie and says that she made all of these great improvements. IMO the whole idea behind the movie went completely over her head, so her improvements made the story and characters worse, not better. I have a belief that you can't do a good job adapting material if you don't have at least some respect for the source.
